This is Arlie Tinder, thanks to James Corey for tracking this one down. Arlie worked many years (info from Harness Racing News) as a driver, trainer, breeder and owner (as well as farm manager) of race horses and was involved with the Golden Cross Farm of the Allen family. Some of the horses he owned and/or trained were Mighty Signal; Joey Montgomery, Crown Song, the Pluff, all in 1966 (San Bernardino County Sun 4 Nov 1966 p 43). It is likely he began his career with the Carr family (Paul) racing for him in the Attica area. Married to Lucille Gillespie, believe they had but one son, Scott but he was active in the three step children’s lives. He passed Sept 26, 2025 in Ocala, Florida at age 91.
AND
Thanks to Ben Day for the following information: "His name is Arlie Tinder. As of 2020 he lives in Ocala Fl. Is my wife;s relative. Still very active. Had a very interesting job while in Attica. He raced standard bred horses for Paul Carr who owned Carr Poultry. Paul also owned the land where the Carr Addition is now in Attica. That area use to be a race track for Paul to run his horses he owned and Arlie did the training and raced the horses, mainly in Chicago."
