Thomas G. Ogle's 58th birthday was pleasantly celebrated by over fifty of his relatives and neighbors on last Tuesdav at his home one mile west of Whitlock. He was born and raised one- mile north of Newtown, Fountain county.  His wife, Elizabeth was raised near Logansport. She 54 years of age. They have a son living near Los Angeles. Cal.. and a daughter living near Shawnee Mound, wife of C. L. Beach. Mr. Ogle by his long and consistent life has won the esteem of all. He has faithfully performed his part as a pioneer and Christian gentleman, to make this country what it is. There were some notable people at this meeting. William Chestnut aged 81 has lived there 51 years, a Aunt Kitty Chestnut aged 64 years and she has lived there 59 years, longer time than any other person in Coal Creek township and it is said in western Montgomery County. A brother, David Ogle of Fountain County aged 70 years came to that part of the country 64 years ago; his sister from Montrose, Iowa aged 73; a sister, wife of the late Isaac Shutze, aged 61.  In Mr. Ogle’s father’s family there were 12 children only 4 of whom are now living. The only surprise was the presentation of an elegant chair by his relatives and neighbors and nephew, Charles Ogle who made a neat speech, wishing him many years of life, and God’s blessing every day.  Mr. Ogle was too full to reply.  Everyone enjoyed the pleasant meeting.
