MYERS, Ralph "Scotty"

"Scotty" as he is called by many of his friends lives in Crawfordsville but has a summer residence "on the hill" just west of Wallace. Here he makes in the early spring enough maple syrup for his family. In the summer he maintains a strawberry patch and large vegetable garden. He was born in Mill Creek Twp just across the Jackson Twp line in 1907 and is the son of Perry Myers and Myrtle Philpott the daughter of Mrs. Elizabeth Philpott. Perry was the son of Josiah and Harriet (Alward Myers. Josiah gave the land for the Centennial Cemetery on Hwy 41 in Mill Creek Township. Ralph is the 4th child of his father's family and has two brothers and three sisters, namely: Ruby who married Eddie Smith; Helen who md. Don Campbell, Harry who md. Elizabeth Dodds; Mary who md. Glenn Mintz and Robert Rogers the daughter of John Nelson Rogers went to the preacher's house in advance, Ind south of Lebanon in Boone Co to be married. While there a blizzard came up and the couple spent their wedding night snowed-in at the preacher's house. After this exciting beginning to marriage bless they later became the parents of one son and four daughters: Janet Jo, the eldest is married to Wilbur Rice. Joan Kay married Carl Smith. Roger Austin married Nola Ann Bowman; Jeannine Ray married George Babbish. And Jacqueline Sue married Dan Ganster. Ralph graduated from Kingham HS and is a member of the freedom Congregational Church. He is an electrician and is a member of the Freedom Congregational Church. He had a shop in Wallace where he was also in the television repair business for 20 years. Besides gardening he enjoys fishing, coon hunting, trapping and walking in the Woods.
