MYERS, Michael F.

Michael F. Myers was born July 11, 1829 in Davidson County, NC the son of John Jacob and Catherine (Shuler) Myers and came to Jackson Township in the 1830s with his parents.  On Sept 8, 1848 he was married to Margaret Sarah Sowers who was born May 15, 1826 (died 22 August 1875) in NC the daughter of David and Sarah (Long) Sowers.  Michael married 2nd Margaret Rabb Sharon who died about 1880 (17 Jan 1880 kz).  He died March 17, 1896 and all three are buried in Phanuel Lutheran Cemetery.  Michael and Sarah had 7 children: George V married Rozilla Carter; William Bloomer married Emma A. Litsey; albert married Barbara Ratcliffe; Wilson married Minnie O. Grimes who married 2nd Samuel H. Sowers; Susana Marie married Henry H. Clore; Sarah Catherine married Butler Myers and Noah Randsom married Mary Jane “Molly” Clore a daughter of Elijah and Jane (Deer) Clore.  William Bloomer Myers was born Aug 1, 1860 and was married to Emma in 1884.  She was born Aug 29, 1865 the daughter of Ulysses and Juliett O (Dooley) Litsey of Parke County.  Her father was a native of Kentucky and in later years her parents lived with her and Bloomer. They are buried in Phanuel Lutheran Cemetery as are Bloomer who died in 1944 and Emma who died in 1929.  Bloomer was a very successful farmer and owned 496 acres.  Besides general mixed farming he raised Poland China hogs, horses and Shorthorn cattle and operated a maple syrup camp.  He also raised corn, wheat, oats and clover.  He was a member of the Phanuel Lutheran Church and Wallace Horsethief Detective Company and from 1897 to 1900 held the office of county commissioner.  Bloomer and Emma had four children; Hazel V and Gladys A who died as infants; Thomas F. Grimes who was a Jackson Township farmer.  He was born in 1884 and died 1971.  Their son Russel M died as an infant, Leslie was bornin 1895 died in 1973 and his wife Grayce died in 1977, all are buried in Phanuel Lutheran Cemetery.   --- transcribed by  kbz
