David MYER

History of Montgomery County, Indiana (Indianapolis: AW Bowen, 1913) p 974

David MYER, one of the enterprising farmers of Wayne Twp, Montgomery County, is one about whom it is a pleasure to write. He is modest in his opinion of himself, not claiming the worth and importance that others are ready and anxious to ascribe to him. He is quiet and unassuming in manner, as such characters always are, and holds the high place which has been given him in thep ublic favor by right of what he is, and not of what he claims. It is a grateful task to write of such a one, and the only danger is, that sufficient merit will not be ascribed; yet the hearts of his friends and they are many, wil supply any lack of words on the part of the writer or any failure to express happily the true thought. Mr. Myer was born in Ohio Oct 13, 1845. He is a son of William and Hannah KIMBALL Myer. The father was a native of Ohio, where he grew to manhood, was educated and spent his earlier years, coming to Fountain County, Indiana in 1853, where he lived 9 years, then removed to Jones County, Iowa where he spent the rest of his life, dying there many eyars ago. He spent his entire life on a farm, was a hard worker and an honest man. His family consisted of 10 chldren: Benton, who lives in Oklahoma City, OK; David, of this review: jane, William, Evelyn and John, all deceased; Julia and Emma living; Mary deceased; Albert in Oklahoma City. David Myer grew to manhood on the home farm and assisted with the general work on the same when a boy. He received a good common school education in the schools of Cain Twp, Fountain County. Early in life he took up farming and has remained active in thesame to the present time. He is the owner of a well improved and productive farm of one hundred and sixty acres in Wayne Twp, where he carries on general farming and stock raising. As a public servant, he has ever been most faithful in the discharge of his duty and has given eminent satisfaction to all concerned. He is a member of the New Light Christian Church.
