MULVERHILL, William

William was born in 1909 in Illinois but moved to Mellott the next year with his parents, John and Charity Askins Mulverhill. At age 10, he went deaf and graduated from the Indiana School for the Deaf in 1929. He worked as a printer for the publisher of the Veedersburg News (William Ira Boggs) and later with his son, Bert Boggs. Associated with Greencastle's Putnam County Graphic for awhile, he also worked with the Hub Press, having been a printer for over 42 years at his death in August 1968. A multi-talented man, he also was an artist and photographer. Please let me know if you have more information on this man.

Mellott July 13 - William Mulverhill, son of JW Mulverhill, has returned from Chicago where for the past four weeks he attended a special school sponsored by the Merganthaler Linotype company obtaining a full course of instructions in the mechanical part of linotype operation. He also completed an artists's course with one of the Chicago schools in ad writing and show card drawing. Mulverhill returned to his work in the Veedersburg News office, where he has been employed since he graduated from the Indiana State school for the deaf three years ago. He graduated with high honors and it was there he learned the printing profession. He operated a linotype machine while attending the state school and is quite proficient in this work.
