James G. Moffett of Jackson Township was in Covington last Saturday and in reply to the question, “Are you a candidate for clerk? He said, his “mind was fully made up and under no circumstances would he be a candidate for Clerk.”  His friends have been urging him to make the race and after fully considering the matter in all its bearings he has decided to leave that race to any other who choses to make it and so far as he was concerned they would not have him as an opponent.”   ---kbz

– Since James G. Moffett has finally and firmly declared that he would not be a candidate for the Clerkship a number of his friends have been prevailing upon him to make the race for Treasurer.  He has hosts of friends in all party of the county who would be delighted to give him their support for that or any other office he might seek at their hands and they hope he will favorably consider the matter and allow them to make him the nominee for that place.   ---kbz
