John MEITZLER, saloon, Covington, was born in Germany, August 4 1832. He received a good business education and served a regular apprenticeship at learning the trade of a shoemaker while a resident of his native place. In 1854 he emigrated to the United States. He located in Attica and remained there for one year at work at his trade. Then he turned his attention to farming and followed this in different localities until 1869 in which year he began his present calling. He owns the property in which he is doing business, which is a fine two-story brick building, eighteen feet frontage by sixty feet in depth, and built at a cost of $3000. He is a member of the German Aid Society and a liberal-minded and enterprising citizen. In political question he is democratic. In 1857 he married Miss Nannie C. Landers who is a native of Kentucky. They have a family of four sons and one daughter; George W., Emma F., William S., John R., and Charles F.
