4th Generation Job INSLEY, born 1762 Dorchester co MD died 1839 Fountain County, Indiana; lived in Dorchester Co MD in Old Cherwas or Old Marlboro District SC and a householder there at time of 1st census of US in 1790; emigrated later to Highland Co OH spent late years in Indiana at home of son, Ellis. Married 1785 to Elizabeth Stafford born in MD in 1771, died in Ohio 1832.

Fifth Generation Ellis Insley, son of Job born in Ohio 1809; died in Fountain County, Indiana 1868; resided in Fountain County and Indianapolis; married 1831 Rebecca Stafford born 1806 died 1846. Sixth Generation William Quinn Insley son of Ellis born in Fountain County, Indiana 1837 died Terre Haute 1880; married 1863 Celia Ann Whitmore born 1840 died 1906.

p. 204 The Staffords Family of Jarvis & Rebecca Staafford, 1st generation in America known to descendants Jarvis Stafford by family tradition was born in VA. He and his wife Rebecca (family name unknown) were married and residents of MD at time of Revolution expelled as members of Society of Friends, opposed to war. Probably residents of Dorchester co MD. In closing years of Revolution, Jarvis was a resident on a farm near Guilford Court House, NC where a battle was fought March 15, 1781. The first census of the US 1790 lists him as householder in CHerwas District, now Marlboro Co SC. In 1805, two years after Ohio was admitted to Union, he emigrated with family to Liberty Twp, Highland Co Oh in southern part of sate. He died there in 1812; Rebecca in 1828. Elizabeth, eldest child born in MD 1771 died in Highland Co OH 1832; married Job Insley 1785 in Marlboro SC with him and elder children emigrated to Ohio with Stafford in 1805. Shadrack, eldest son and second chid of Jarvis and Rebecca Stafford, born in MD 1773 died in Highland County 1866; married Miriam Nichols 1798 born in Maryland 1778 died in Highland County 1848. Family of Shadrack and Miriam Nichols Stafford In a family of 10 children, the 5th child and 3rd daughter, Rebecca was born in Ohio 1806 in 1831 married cousin, Ellis Insley son of Job and Elizabeth Stafford Insley emigrated with him to Fountain County, Indiana where she died 1846.

p. 221 Ellis, the son of Job and Elizabeth Stafford Insley was born May 3, 1809 on his father's farm in Highland County, ohio; he died Oct 1, 1868 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Schermerhorn in Fountain Co IN. His marriage to Rebecca Stafford, daughter of Shadrach and Miriam Stafford took place Sept 6, 1831 at her father's home in Ohio. She die din Fountain County, Indiana March 15, 1846 and is buried in the Cemetery at Newtown Indiana. Of the 7 children 3 died in infancy: Zurilda, 1836 name not recorder, 1842 and Martha 1844. Those surviving: 1. Miriam Elizabeth born July 29, 1832 died June 24, 1899 at home of her daughter, Mrs. Royer married Dec 23, 1862 to the Rev. Lucus Nebeker, a Methodist minister. Their only surviving child, Anna married Emil Reyer (Royer?) and there is one child of that marriage, Miriam. The Reyer residence is in South Bend, Indiana. 2. Achsah Ann, born Jan 4, 1834 died at her home in Attica, Fountain County, Dec 7, 1917 married March 4, 1856 to John Jacob Schermerhorn. Their children: a. Alice born 1857; died 1872. b. Luella born 1860 died 1872. c. Charles E. born 1862 died 1887 a medical student. d. William Bradt born Aug 21, 1866 studied DePauw University Greencastle married Aug 4, 1889 to Lottie Jane Todd who died Jan 1,1947. A retired banker and farmer whose residence is at Attica, Ind. p. 213 William Quinn only son of Ellis and Rebecca Stafford Insley was born Aug 22, 1837 on his father's farm near Newtown, Fountain County, Indiana; he died June 20, 1880 at Terre Haute. Education: Asbury (DePauw) University, Greencastle In; University of Michigan, Ann Arbor; Medical College, Cincinnati, Ohio; 1863, MD. Married at Ft. Wayne, Indiana Dec 23, 1863 to Susan Green Webb Whitmore born sept 20, 1840 at Rocky Hill, Wethersfield, Conn; died Dec 29, 1906 at Indianapolis. The first and last of their 7 children were girls Lura and Mary who died in infancy. Those surviving to maturity all born in Terre Haute.
