The old settlers of Tippecanoe, Montgomery and Fountain counties assembled at Meharry’s grove, Coal Creek Township, Montgomery County on last Saturday to related incidents of the pleasures and hardships of pioneer life and to make merry generally.
George Glascock said to the oldest resident of Fountain made but a short speech. He never went to school much and what little he did was in an old log school house with no floor but earth and no chimney but a hole in the roof to admit the escape of smoke; the fire was built in the middle of the room on the ground.
