Marcus D. Furr, farmer, Hillsboro, was born in Cain Twp, Feb 26, 1838. His father, Alexander came from Ky in the early settlement of this county. His mother, Rebecca (Booe) is now the wife of David Whitsel. Mr. Furr married Sarah A. Justus, Nov 8, 1860; she died Aug 10, 1875; having borne 4 children: Sarene E, b. Sept 30, 1861; William Oct 2, 1863; Sina M June 13, 1869 died. May 26, 1870 and Charles Oct 22, 1873 d. Oct 10, 1877. He was married again, March 20, 1876 to Miss Belle Bodley who was born Dec 18, 1843. 3 children have been born to this union: Gracie M, Jan 1, 1877; Harry B, June 5, 1879 d. 28th of the same month; and Ira O, Aug 10, 1880. Mr. Furr has threshed grain for 24 consecutive seasons. He now owns and is running a steam thresher which has cost him, all complete $1,500. Before her marr. Mrs. Furr taught school 14 years 30 terms about half of the time in Livingston Co Ill and the rest in Fountain County Mr. Furr is a Democrat.
