Jack D. Furr, son of Mr. and Mrs. Freeman Furr of Veedersburg became Dr. Jack Furr on Monday June 8 as he was conferred the degree of Doctor of Medicine from Indiana University at Commencement exercises.

Dr. Furr thus became the 5th man in the history of Veedersburg HS to receive the Doctor of Medicine degree.

Dr. C. B. McCord who celebrated his 50th year in practice in Veedersburg last year and the late Dr. Brant Lemon of Greencastle were the first both of whom graduated from high school in 1903.  Dr. Martin Patton of Indianapolis and Dr. Byron Smith of Kingman were the others of this elite group.

Jack graduated from Veedersburg High School in 1951 and received the Bachelor of Arts Degree in Chemistry from Indiana University in 1955.  He has accepted an appointment to the Intern Staff of the Marion County General Hospital in Indianapolis for the coming year.  

Dr. Furr and his wife are now residing at 2316 N Pennsylvania in Indianapolis.
