- George Diffenderfer, farmer living north of the city owns a cider mill which
he bought of the late James L. Allen during the Civil War. George has made
hundreds of gallons of cider with the old mill and expects to grind out a lot
more this season. He paid Mr. Allen $50 for the mill over 50 years ago but it
is just about as good as new and makes as good cider as was ever ground out of
an apple.
