Lawson H. Booe, farmer, Newtown, son of Philip & Jemima (Clinton) B ooe was born April 10, 1833. His father was born in SC and his mother in the old North State; from the latter they emigrated to Fayette Co Ind; living there a few years, in 1827 they came to this county and settled on Scott's Prairie, in Jackson Twp. In this place the subject of this notice was born. His father died April 1874, aged 74 years. He was married Nov 5, 1857 to Isabel J. Hestler who died Aug 26, 1863 leaving one child, Ida Jane who was born Oct 11, 1858 and is the wife of Silas Vickery. On Jan 7, 1869 he was married to the widow of James Campbell, formerly Matilda Justus who was born Sept 30, 1840. Her two children, Sarah Olive and John J. Campbell were born respectively Nov 16, 1859 and Feb 24, 1862. By her last marriage she has one child, named Ellora, b. aug 16, 1874. Mr. and Mrs. Booe are both members of the Christian Church and he has belonged to the Masonic Fraternity 16 years. His political views are Democratic.
