Tombaugh - Swaim
Source: Iva Lewis Obituary Scrapbook
The home of Mr. and Mrs. W. R.
Swaim, of Tangier, was the scene of a very pretty and quiet little wedding at
high noon Wednesday. The wedding couple were Mr. and Mrs. Swaim’s youngest
daughter, Miss Lucy Bernice, and Mr. William Arthur Tombaugh, of Clinton, Ind.
Only the immediate relatives were present. The bride was becomingly gowned in
white English eyelet embroidery, while the groom wore the usual conventional
black. The home was tastefully decorated in flowers and ferns, the color of
yellow predominating. After the
ceremony, which was gracefully performed by Revs. Misses Martilla and Mary Cox,
the bridal couple led the way to the dining room, where a sumptuous dinner was
served, the same color scheme being effected here with flowers and candle
shades. The happy couple left on the evening train for Clinton, where the groom
is a prominent busines man and had a home already furnished for his bride. They
were accompanied by the best wishes of a legion of friends for their future
happiness, also with showers of rice, old shoes and sufficient a labeling for
their fellow passengers to understand that Cupid had scored another victory in
Tangier. – jlr
