Two couples of popular young people of near Hillsboro who stole a march on their many friends and were married a few days ago had planned to keep their marriage a secret but on finding that some of their friends had become aware of the fact have given up the secret.  Raymond Rivers and Miss Clara Ray, Joe S. Cooper and Miss Irma Death journeyed to Ohio Saturday April 22 but on finding that they could not obtain the necessary papers returned to Winchester where they were married by Rev. Martin, pastor of the ME Church formerly of Hillsboro.  Both young couples returned to Hillsboro Sunday.  Miss Clara Ray is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ray or near Mellott and has been a student nurse in a Chicago Hospital fore the past year. Mr. Rivers is a young farmer, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Rivers, residing northeast of Hillsboro.

Miss Irma Death is the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Death of near Mellott.  She is a graduate of the Veedersburg HS in the class of ’21.  Mr. Cooper is the son of Mr. and Mrs. CB Cooper of Hillsboro and is employed as foreman and linotype operator at the Veedersburg News. He is a graduate of Hillsboro HS. = kbz
