"Miss Gladys Howard second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Howard of Winchester and J. Harvey Sheppard, son of Mrs. C.S. Sheppard of Whitehall were married Saturday afternoon at Covington, Ind by Rev. J.C. Johnson, pastor of the First M.E. Church of Covington. The wedding took place in the church, the wedding march being played by Mrs. Rayneer. The couple were unattended. Mrs. Sheppard was a graduate of the Blue Mound HS and attended the State Normal University at Normal. She taught in Christian County three years and one year in Macon County, 8 miles north of Decatur. The bride wore a wedding dress of "flash" color georgette and carried an arm bouquet of roses and sweet peas. Her traveling suit was of beige with accessories to match." Mr. and Mrs. Sheppard came to Whitehall Sunday for a visit with the groom's mother and will visit here and in Winchester and then go to Chicago where they will reside and where Mr. Sheppard is completing a course in electrical engineering and tower house operating.
