It seems that most all the damage was limited to section L (in the middle, in the back - towards the fence). If anyone else is concerned, I'd be glad to check if you can give me the location (or approx. location) of the headstones. I don't know the section number, but I believe ours might be to the west of section L. It has been a while since we were there, but I think I remember seeing the river quite close to the site. They had several children including Wilmina, Mary Ann (my g-g-grandmother), Benjamin, James G., John, and Romaine. (It is also believed John may have had a daughter Ruth from a prior marriage.) Mary Ann married John Zimmerman from Cass Co Michigan, and they along with James G. and his family went to Kansas in 1873. In the "local briefs" of the Windom, KS newspaper of September 16, 1886, there is the following paragraph: "Miss Hattie Rhorer, of Elkhart county, Ind, who has been visiting her cousin, Mrs. John Zimmerman, left here Wednesday for McPherson, where she visits Mrs. Hall, after which she returns home." Am wondering if the Hattie Rhorer referred to could be connected in some way to your Rohrer family? Thanks. Elaine Strouse
