We just went thru a box of pictures that came down to us from deceased family members..we have have found last names, but very few first names..on the pictures...and a lot with no names on them...oh...why did people do that? We know our 1st great grandparents were married in 1884 at Elkhart, Indiana. Their names were George Washington PAYNE/PAINE and Rosa BURNETT. Rosa was born in ww Dec 1866 Madison county, KY the daughter of James and his unknown wife BURNETT. We found a picture in the box that says Lidia "my mothers sister, so now we know Rosa had a sister Lidia.. I don't know if the BURNETT family moved from Madison county, KY to Elkhart, or if Rosa had somehow went there by her self. We know nothing of her parents other than her unknown mother was married either before she married James BURNETT or after James died to a Mr. HACKLER. We have learned there were 2 HAKCLER sisters and 1 HACKLER brother who were half sibblings of Rosa BURNETT.. In the box we found a picture of two lovely girls dressed in fine clothing..on the back is written by our Aunt Nettie, "my mothers half sisters" We do know the name of the half brother, Olliver HACKLER from a post card he wrote to Rosa abt 1900 and we also found a picture of him in the box. Does any one know of these names? I have more, but will put them out later, don't want to overwhem any one. Happy 4th to you all, the fire works are set off at the bottom of our cliff, near the ocean. I think everyone that even thinks they know us will be in our yard tonight!! They don't go off until a little after 10 PM, it doesn't get dark until that time here on the coast in the North West of the USA... Thanks for your help, Wilma Fleming Haynes gencon@harborside.com
