Charles Ray PARKS (b. Apr 8, 1888 Waterford, IN; d. May 4, 1907 Elkhart, IN) married Viola May HARDESTY May 4, 1907. According to my brother's research, HARDESTY was Viola May's true maiden name (her parents were listed on the marriage license, she was listed in their obituaries, and she was found with them in the census) Viola May's parents were E.P. and Maggie HARDESTY. Charles and Viola May had 8 children together: Donald, Levi, Louis, Melvin, Effie, Gertrude (David's grandmother), Maxine and Minnie (not in that order). Off the top of his head he couldn't remember the names of Charles and Florence's children. Charles was the son of Melvin Julius PARKS (b. May 24, 1866) and Minnie Alice Wogoman. Melvin was the son of Robert PARKS and Margaret SCHICK. His research shows the PARKS family came to Elkhart Co. in 1848 from Snyder Co. Pennsylvania. Hope this helps! Please tell me that you are working on the HARDESTY line. As you will see in the note of info to Susan I did find Viola and who she is, although I'm a bit fuzzy on some of the fine details, for example I have her born a month after her sister Cecil! I just started on the Hardestys as it is my step-father's family. I would be glad to send you a copy of what I have so far so that you can update me, or collect from it if you dont have something. But from the sounds of your last note, I bet you have more than me :) (Or maybe that's just wishful thinking coming thru :) Also, as soon as the WOGOMAN connection here gets back to me, I will let you know. If she has data ondisk, then we will all be way ahead with that line! And since she did a real nice local book to accent the larger book, I'm just betting that hers is all on computer. This has turned out to be one very nice lookup! First, I'm sending this to the list, as I just saw another interested party :) Second, I was wrong, Viola is not the one that is on her 3rd marriage with Parks. That was Ida! Viola is one that I had not finished looking at yet, and as it turns out is my step-father's aunt! While I only have that family back to my gg-grandfather, I feel very close to making a connection with one of the well researched lines. I just have to find it. On Charles you really lucked out, he is a WOGOMAN and a family here in town has linked them into a well researched line, a very nice 1+1/2 inch thick book on them :) Better yet, my son went to school with her son, so I have a real "in" on getting data straight from her! Somedays it really pays to have connections, and the internet once again has proven itself worthwhile!!!
