He also went by Edward Hawks. He was born in 1850 in NY and died in 1863. According to his wife's obit, Mary Jane Barnett Hawks, he is buried in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Elkhart County. I would be so appreciative of any help or suggestions you could give me. I'm starting with Elkhart county, because their grandfather lived in Elkhart for many years, and is buried there, I believe. He was: Donald PARKS b. abt. 1921 died Jul 1972. His father was Charles/Charley PARKS. Charles was still alive in Dec of 1966. He had 2 wives. First was Viola May HARDESTY; second was Florence ??. Donald had brothers Levi (who lived in Goshen? and died in 1964), Louis, Phil, and at least 2 sisters. Donald was married to Mildred WHYBREW in 1942. I am told Charles' parents were Melvin and Minnie PARKS. Does anyone have any info on Charles' birth, parents, etc.?? I have not been able to find him in the census records that I have checked so far. I was told the family was from Michigan, and Pennsylvania. This is a shot in the dark, I know, but I hoped someone may have a clue. Thank you for your time. I did not pursue it as it was Viola May's 2nd or 3rd marriage making Hardesty not her true maiden name, but I can give you what little I did gather before I realized that. Charles Parks b. Apr 18 1888 Viola M. Hardesty b. Apr 17 1890 m. Mar 4 1907 Book 17 Page 21 Source: Marriage Records Index Elkhart County 1850-1920 I am going to the library tomorrow, if any of the children were born before 1920, I might be able to get info on them, as we have an index on births from 1882-1920. I'm planning on going to the courthouse also, so I can probably get some extra info from the actual marriage license.
