Meyer Funeral Home / Grace Lawn Cem. Content-type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-transfer-encoding: 7bit Does anyone know who has the ledgers of the Walter Meyer Funeral Home? I was told by a librarian at the Elkhart Public Library that my great-aunt, Leta R. Scofield, who died in Elkhart (March 5, 1931), is listed in the ledgers. The librarian did not know who has possession of the ledgers and suggested I write to the ECGS. I wrote to them last July, but have never received a reply. Also, is there someone on the list who can photograph a couple of tombstones at Grace Lawn Cemetery for me? Thanks for your help. I looked up an obit yesterday in the Elkhart Cemetery Index which we have at our library. The one I was looking for had the maiden name of the wife listed in the index. The person I am doing the research for said she is quite sure that the stone just has her married name. (I believe she has a picture of the stone.) How would someone doing the indexing know what her maiden name was? Would they have looked at cemetery records? Just curious. Thanks. Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Friends, I've enjoyed our discussions, but after too many hours reading and answering email (due to no self-control), my house is a mess. I've made a pact with myself to keep away from my favorite pastime and am unsubscribing from my email lists so the temptation will be removed. :-( Thanks for all the information so many of you have shared. You have my email address; if there is something you need to ask of me, write. I'll answer! Do you know the sections or anything of the tombstones? I can't promise I will be able to do this, but I will sure give it a try.
