He died in 1835 and was buried on family property east of Elkhart on a bank of the St. Joseph River. A bronze plaque was placed there by the Elkhart County attorneys honoring him. His son Levi was a carpenter and helped raise the first house in Elkhart Co. He was also involved in the construction of the first mill and the first bridge across the St. Joseph River. I would be grateful for any references to books that might contain information on my family and for any connections with anyone linked to the Diddys. Thank you. Some are buried in Brown Cemetary, Benton Twp, others are in Rice. If you have the Cemetary Book of Elkhart Co., I'm looking for Death info on Danile Rink, b. abt 1846 and Paulina, Polly, Paula (Rogers) b. abt 1856, and any of their children. One son, Henry, my gggrandfather, b. 1882, died 1949, burried Rice Cemetary. Be glad to share what info I have! Thank you!
