MRS. CLEMMIE HARNED KING

(Dec. 20, 1928) King- Mrs. Clemmie Harned King, 74, died in her home at 524 South Tenth St. at 2:30 this morning after a year's illness, the last 3 weeks marked by a pneumonia attack. She was born in Williams County, Ohio, Aug. 24, 1854, and came to Indiana from Allen County, Ohio, residing in Goshen for the past 12 years. Her husband, Mahlon P. King, whom she married Mar. 15, 1874, died in 1910. There are no surviving relatives. Rev. Huisinpiller of the New Paris ME Church will officiate at her funeral, burial at New Paris cemetery.

BETTY MAE KLINE

Mrs. Betty Mae Kline, 58, l8729 U.S. 20, Bristol, died at ll:30 p.m. Tuesday in Goshen General Hospital, where she was a patient four weeks. Mrs. Kline was ill six years.

She was born in Goshen, June 27, l922 , a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey (Cora Pepper) Horn. On Aug. 8, l942, she married Max Kline, who survives.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Rita) Solomon and Mrs. Mark (Vicki) Shriner, both of Bristol; five sons, William, Bristol, Max Jr. and Jerry, both of Elkhart, Phillip, Goshen, and James , at home; l0 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Stanley (Phyllis) Hoover, Wakarusa, and Mrs. Jerry (Gloria) Pawling, Elkhart, and two brothers, Burdette Horn, Bristol, and Theldon Horn, Japan.

The family will receive friends at the Yoder-Culp Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m Friday. The body will lie in state from noon Saturday until l p.m., the hour of the funeral at Little Pine Church of the Brethren, of which Mrs. Kline was a member. The Rev. Kenneth Hollinger, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Little Pine cemetery

MAX L. KLINE SR.

Max L. Kline Sr., 69 , l8729 U.S. 20 E. , Bristol, died at 935 a.m. Tuesday in his home following an illness.

He was born April 28, l92l , in LaGrange, and was married in August l942 in Goshen to Betty Mae Horn. She died Feb. l7, l98l.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Rita) Chupp, Millersburg, and Mrs. Joe (Vicki) Langford, Vistula; five sons, William, Elkhart, Max Jr., Union, Mich., Jerry, Phillip, Dunlap, and James, Bristol; l4 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Wilford (Evelyn) Murdock, Goshen, Pearl Overhauser, South Bend, and Mrs. Burdette (Marjorie) Horn, Bristol; and three brothers, George and Haskel, both of Elkhart, and Robert, Bristol

He retired as a molder in l982 from Elkhart Foundry following 32 years of employment, was a member of Little Pine Church of the Brethren and was an Army veteran of World War II .

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Bristol Chapel. The Rev. Kenneth Rogers, pastor, of Trinity Full Gospel Fellowship Church, Goshen, will officiate at the service. Burial will be in Little Pine Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the Salvation Army.

GINGER LANNETTE KLINE

Ginger Lannette Kline, infant daughter of Max L. and Alice (Clark) Kline Jr., 74 Suburban Drive, South, Elkhart died at 540 p.m. Wednesday at Goshen General Hospital. The baby was born at the hospital on Tuesday.

Surviving are her parents; a brother Max L. III, at home; the paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Max Kline Sr., Bristol, and the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Creswell, Elkhart; and great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Haskel Kline Sr., Bristol, and Mr. and Mrs. George Wilfret, Goshen.

Friends may call after 7 p.m. today and all day Friday at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Funeral services for the infant will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Little Pine Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Noble Bowman officiating. Burial will be in Little Pine Church Cemetery.

Elkhartan Dies of Crash Injuries

An Elkhart man died early today of injuries suffered in a one-car accident on C.R. 19 one-half mile north of C.R. 14. Gregory B. Kline, 21, 54689 Merry Drive, Elkhart, died at 1:45 a.m. today at Elkhart General Hospital where he was taken for treatment following the accident at 4 p.m. Monday.

Elkhart County Plt. Michael Marcinkowski reported Kline was driving his 1972 Plymouth north on C.R. 19 when he lost control of the car and skid off the right side of the roadway. The car struck two mailboxes and then slid broadside into a utility pole and an underground telephone junction box. Kline was thrown from the car at that point and he was found 84 feet away. The car continued to slide for another 128 feet before coming to rest.

The Jefferson ambulance was called and transported Kline to Elkhart General Hospital. He suffered internal injuries, massive pelvic fractures, head injuries, lacerations, abrasions and contusions.

Kline, a 1974 graduate of Elkhart Central High School, was employed in the shipping department of Glass-Tec Corp. Born May 11, 1955, in Elkhart, he served with U.S. Navy in 1974.

Surviving with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George M. ( Helen O. Kissinger ) Kline, with whom he resided, are a sister, Lois, at home; three brothers, David, at home, Michael, Elkhart, and Larry, Wolcottville, and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Eva Kline, Bristol. He was engaged to marry Trudy A. Beers in March 1978.

Kline was a member of the Calvery Assembly of God Church.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Stemm-Lawson Funeral Home, Elkhart, where service arrangements are pending.

HELEN LOUISE KURTZ

Helen Louise, young daughter of Mrs. Vera Kurtz of Warren street, Lake Shore Park addition, died at 7:30 o'clock this morning at the Elkhart General Hospital. Suffering from cholera infantum, the child was taken to the hospital last Thursday.

The funeral will be held Friday, with a service at the Charles Walley chapel, 126 South Second street, at 2 p.m. and burial at the Prairie Street cemetery. The Rev. E. C. Swihart will officiate.

The child was born Feb. 9, 1928. Her father, John H. Kurtz, died a year ago. Mrs. Kurtz has six surviving children.

JOHN H. KURTZ

John Henry Kurtz, 32, a resident of Elkhart since a boy, died at 11 o'clock Thursday night at the Elkhart General Hospital. Stricken with heart disease and complications 10 days ago. Mr. Kurtz was taken to the hospital last Tuesday.

The funeral will be held Monday with services at the Charles Walley Funeral Home, 126 South Second street, at 2 o'clock in charge of the Rev. E. C. Swihart. Mr. Kurtz was a member of the Church of the Brethren, South Sixth street.

The family home is on Best avenue in Lake Shore Park addition. Surviving are the widow, Vera DeWitt Kurtz, to whom Kurtz was married May 24, 1919, and five children--Orville, Rosie, Lawrence, Helen and Esther, the last two being twins. There also are the father, Lewis J. Kurtz of Granger, and the following brothers and sisters: Lester Kurtz of Granger, Noble Kurtz of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Miss Beulah Kurtz and Mrs. Bertha Tschupp, both of Elkhart. Mr. Kurtz was born April 14, 1897 in Goshen.

LAWRENCE W. KURTZ

UNION-Lawrence W. Kurtz, 50, of White Pigeon Rt. 3, died at 10:45 p.m. Monday in South Bend Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient a few hours. He was born Oct. 21, 1925, in Elkhart, and moved to Union 10 years ago. On Jan. 7, 1950, he married Catherine Lacey, in Yonkers, N.Y. She survives with a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Russell, White Pigeon; two grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Vera Kurtz, Elkhart; a brother, Orville, White Pigeon; three sisters, Mrs. Jeraldine Hooley, Farmington, Mich., Mrs. Rosie Hunter and Mrs. Esther Shook, both of Elkhart.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home where services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Samuel Haarer, of Tri-Lakes Chapel, Bristol, of which he was a member, will officiate. Burial will be in Adamsville Cemetery. Mr. Kurtz was a veteran of WWII, and was employed at Taylor Products.

ELKHART-Friends of Orville J. Kurtz may call for one hour prior to the 10 a.m. Friday funeral service at the Elkhart chapel of the Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home. The Rev. Dick Nichols will officiate. The body will be cremated.

Mrs. Kurtz, 79, of 1900 Jeanwood Drive, Eastlake Rehabilitation Center, died at 3:15 p.m. Friday (Jan. 14, 2000) in Elkhart General Hospital. He was born July 7, 1920, to John and Vera (Dewitt) Kurtz in Elkhart. Surviving is a sister, Rose Hunter of Elkhart. A brother and two sisters are deceased. Mr. Kurtz formerly worked at the Association of the Disabled of Elkhart County.
