Louis Jacob Eichmiller, age 71 of Jasper, passed away at 7:58
a.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2011, in Brookside Village in Jasper. He was married
to Virginia (Wilson) Eichmiller from 1963-1994. He was born in Harbison
Township, Dubois, on November 7, 1939, to Herman and Pauline (Breitwieser)
Eichmiller. Surviving are two sons, Michael Louis Eichmiller and his wife,
Victoria, Fort Branch and Andrew Louis Eichmiller and his wife, Courtney
Schmidt, Lafayette; his mother Pauline Eichmiller, Dubois; one brother, Harold
Eichmiller, Shoals; three sisters, Mrs. David (Wanda) Smith, Loogootee, Mrs.
Larry (Lou Ann Gutgsell), St. Anthony, Mrs. John (Dolores Esmeier), Daytona,
Florida; and two grandchildren, Caroline Grace and Christian Michael
Eichmiller, Ft. Branch. He was preceded in death by an infant grandchild,
Hannah Elizabeth Eichmiller; his father, Herman Eichmiller; a sister, Anita
Bauer; and two infant brothers, James and Gary. Mr. Eichmiller was a skilled
carpenter and owned and operated Eichmiller Construction Company in Jasper for
many years. He was a member of the National Guard unit in Jasper for six years.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church at the Dubois Crossroads. He had
served on the church councils at St. John's Lutheran Church in Loogootee and at
St. John's Lutheran Church at the Dubois Crossroads. He was a member of the
Builders Association of Dubois County, Dubois Community Club, Jasper Outdoor
Recreation Club, Huntingburg Order of Eagles, and the Jasper Moose Lodge.
Funeral services for Louis J. Eichmiller will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday,
October 9, 2011, in St. John's Lutheran Church at the Dubois Crossroads with
burial to follow in St. John's Cemetery. The Rev. Mary Poston and Rev. William
Andrews will officiate. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Saturday. October 8, at
the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper and one hour before the services at
the church. Jasper Moose Lodge #1175 will hold a memorial services at 3:00 p.m.
Saturday at the funeral home. |
