Obituary   

Mary Alice Parks passed away at the Northwood Good Samaritan Retirement Center on Monday, March 19, 2018. She was 73 years old.

Mary Alice was the daughter of Lt. Col. Gordon T. and Eva F. Parks and the granddaughter of Rev. Christopher W. and Alice Dillin Parks all of Huntingburg. She was born in Augusta, Georgia on November 3, 1944.

She is survived by a niece and three great-nieces. She is a descendant of the original pioneers in Dubois and Orange Counties. Mary Alice was a third generation graduate of Huntingburg High School.

Mary Alice graduated with a B.A. from Indiana University and an M.A. from the University of Cincinnati. She worked in Technical Sales at Cincinnati Sub-Zero specializing in temperature controlled equipment and as an Application Engineer at Waterbury Farrel-Textron in Cheshire, Ct specializing in cold heaters, transfer presses and optical comparators; and Bendix Automation and Measurement in Dayton, Ohio specializing in computerized measurement. At one time she was also Marketing Director and the Center Director of SIRS.

Her interests were history, gardening, furniture refinishing, mahjong and Shiloh Cemetery. Mary Alice was the moving force in starting the Shiloh Pet Cemetery in 2000. She was a Master Gardener and a member of the DAR.

Funeral services for Mary Alice Parks will be held at 1:00 p.m. EDT on Sunday, March 25, 2018, at the 1849 Shiloh Meeting House on Shiloh Road near Ireland. Graveside rites will be conducted at Shiloh Cemetery following the service. Rev. Dan Sinkhorn will officiate the services.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. Memorials may be made to Shiloh Cemetery or the American Cancer Society’s Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Division.
