Obituary for Glen WeberDateline Danville IN.: Glen F. “Hunter” Weber age 91 of Danville IN. formerly of Jasper passed away at 4:00 A.M. Friday November 13, 2009 at the Avon Health and Rehabilitation Center in Avon IN. He was born August 19, 1918 at Portersville IN. to: Charles and Emma (Harder) Weber. He married Geneva Schnarr June 30, 1951. She passed away July 17, 2002. He was a Farmer, he worked at the Jasper Turning Company, and he retired from the Northwood Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Jasper as a Maintenance man. Memberships include: First Presbyterian Church in Jasper, VFW Post 673, and American Legion Post 147. He was past president and care-taker of Lemmons Cemetery. He received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star in WW2 Also the Medaille Du Jubile from France. He was a WW2 Army Veteran where he served at the Battle of the Bulge. He was in the 3rd Armor Spear Head Division where he drove a half track, He was in F Company, where he was the last surviving member. He admired his fellow servicemen and loved his country. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Surviving: his daughter-Mrs. Dave (Becky) Souder of Danville IN. 3 Grandchildren Jenisa Hurt, Jessica Souder, and Jayme Gibbs all of Danville. 4 Great Grandchildren-Dalton Glen and Maci Hurt, Jenna Souder, Neva Gibbs. 3 brothers-Paul and John Weber both of Jasper, Hobart Weber of St. Louis MO. 2 sisters-Louise Cochran of Jasper, and Carolyn Vogel of Haysville. Preceded in death besides his wife is 1 step son Eugene Schnarr, 1 brother-Amos Weber, and 1 sister-Margaret Vogel. Visitation will be held from 10:00-12:00 P.M. Saturday November 21, 2009 at Becher & Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 P.M. Saturday November 21, 2009 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Portersville Cemetery in Portersville IN. The Rev. Joyann Goehring will officiate VFW Post 673 will conduct the Military Grave Side Rites. Memorial contributions may be made to: Portersville Cemetery Fund. |
