Obituary for Frieda I. StewartDateline Jasper, IN Frieda I. Stewart, age 92, of Jasper, Indiana passed away at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday (January 8, 2015) at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper. She is the last survivor of the Lechner Family. Frieda was born January 4, 1923 in Montgomery, IN to Joseph and LaVina (Wininger) Lechner. She married Clyde E. Stewart on December 27, 1945. He preceded her in death on August 10, 1997. Frieda was a homemaker and member of First Presbyterian Church in Jasper and a past member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed collecting dolls and cookbooks, trying new recipes, and embroidery. Surviving. One son, Clyde M. (Monty)Stewart, and his wife Louise, Jasper, IN One daughter-in-law, Rosemary (Rosie) Stewart, Celestine, IN Five grandchildren Nine great grandchildren 12 great great grandchildren Several nieces and nephews Preceding her in death besides her husband are one son, Elmer Stewart, one grandson, Joseph Stewart, four sisters, Mary Moots, Marguerite Sermersheim, Rose Connner, and Virginia Petry, and two brothers, Leonard and Carl Lechner. Funeral services for Frieda I. Stewart will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday (January 12, 2015) at the First Presbyterian Church in Jasper, with burial to follow in Portersville Cemetery. Pastor Jim Neely will officiate. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. service time at the First Presbyterian Church on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or to a favorite charity. |
