OBITUARY

George Wininger died at his home in Loogootee, September 18, 1914.  He was born at the old Wininger homestead in Martin Co., March 30, 1854, being 60 years, 6 months and 18 days of age when death came.
On September 17, 1878 he was married to Melvina White.  To them were born seven children, four of whom with their mother passed to that Great Beyond several years ago.
He was again married to Liza Harbison on March 9 , 1902.  To this union were born three children one dying in infancy, and Earl and Clyde living, together with Bert of Kankakee, IL, Pearl of Madison and Walter of Loogootee by his first wife.
When a young man he identified himself with the Christian Church at Mt. Olive, later about a year ago, he moved his membership to the Loogootee church.
His labor was one of earnest and conscientious labor for the betterment of mankind.  He was honest and upright and ever thoughtful of the needs of others.
During his last illness through his intense suffering he was patient and bore his afflictions without a murmur.  As a husband and father he was ever loving and kind.  As a neighbor, every ready to do unto others as he would have them do unto him.
Without him there is a vacant chair in the family circle that will ever be so and a link missing in the chain of acquaintance that can never be forgotten, however though it may be hard to bear, there is consolation in the words of him who has gone to prepare a place for those who love him "a city of many mansions not built with hands, eternal in the heavens."
Those who are left to mourn their loss are his wife, five children, two brothers, Frank and Josh, three sisters, Mrs. J.H. Acre of WaKeeney, KS; Mrs. Jas. Ragsdale, and Mrs. L.D. Haga of Shoals.
A short but impressive song and prayer service was held by Rev. F. D. Wharton at the residence. At the Truelove Church, Rev. Burress conducted the funeral services after which the burial took place in the Truelove Cemetery.
