Edna M. Mehringer, 88, Greenwood,
died on Friday, March 2, 2018.
Edna was born on May 22, 1929, in Schnellville, to the late
Oscar and Cecilia Mary (Lueken) Persohn. She married Linus Mehringer on May 3,
1949, in Schnellville and Linus preceded her in death March 17, 2011.
She was a faithful member of Our Lady of The Greenwood
Catholic Church and worked for Our Lady of The Greenwood Catholic Schools in
the cafeteria for 32+ years.
She enjoyed playing euchre with the ladies of various card
clubs.
She is survived by three daughters, Gail (Joe) Simpson,
Susie (Terry) Zeigler and Denise (Brian) Eubanks; three sons, Michael (Kathy)
Mehringer, Joseph Mehringer and William (Debbie) Mehringer; eight
grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, at
Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W Main St., Greenwood,
with a rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Additional calling will be Thursday from
9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at
Our Lady of The Greenwood Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Kenneth L. Jochem, 79, of Jasper, passed away at 6:33
p.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Northwood Retirement Community in
Jasper.
Kenneth was born in St.
Henry, Indiana, on
March 22, 1938, to Peter Sr. and Rosie (Hohl) Jochem. He married Josephine
Bauer on April 24, 1965, in St. Henry Catholic Church in St. Henry.
He was a graduate of Holland High School. He
retired from Indiana Furniture Industries where he had worked for over 50
years. He was a member of St. Joseph’s
Catholic Church in Jasper. Kenneth enjoyed traveling with his wife and
following Jasper High School sports. He was an avid IU
basketball fan.
He is survived by his wife Josephine Jochem of Jasper;
several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are one sister, Alma Lannan, and two
brothers, Peter Jr. and Norbert Jochem.
A Mass of Christian burial for Kenneth L. Jochem will be
held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, with entombment
to follow in the Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until
the 11:00 a.m. service time at the church on Tuesday.

Barbara “Susie” Baxter, 89, of Jasper, passed away at 1:35
p.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Northwood Retirement Community in
Jasper.
Barbara was born in Loogootee,
Indiana, on September 28, 1928,
to Lawrence and Eathel (Workman) Buhr. She married Carl Klingle on June 30,
1949. He preceded her in death on September 13, 1982. She then married Ernest
“Gene” Baxter on November 28, 1983. He preceded her in death on May 24, 2017.
She was a graduate of Loogootee High School. Barbara
was a farmer most of her life and was also a beautician for many years. She
enjoyed crocheting and loved dogs and spending time with her family.
She is survived by three daughters, Wanda Uebelhor and her
husband Rick of Jasper, Diana Klingle-Wilson and her husband Ken of
Pittsboro, Ind. and Kim Doty and her husband John of French Lick; eight
grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death besides her husband one daughter,
Karla Klingle; one son, Daniel Klingle; one brother, Wilford “Bud” Buhr.

Melba Marie Werremeyer, 88, of Huntingburg, passed away
at 5:52 a.m., on Saturday, March 3, 2018, in the emergency room of Memorial Hospital
and Health Care Center
in Jasper.
She was born September 24, 1929, in Holland, Indiana
to Edmund and Edna (Werremeyer) Roesner. She married Maurice E. “Pete”
Werremeyer on August 20, 1950, at St. James Lutheran Church in Holland.
Melba worked at General Electric in the 1950-60’s and then
worked as a teacher’s assistant and secretary at Maple Park Elementary School
in Huntingburg. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Holland where she was
church organist for 60-plus years. Melba enjoyed flower gardening, especially
roses and daylilies, and cooking.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband,
Maurice “Pete” Werremeyer, who passed away November 12, 2017; and her brother,
Ray Roesner, who passed away February 7, 2018.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jack R.
(Barbara) Werremeyer of Dale; one daughter and son-in-law, Joni M. (Jay)
Zarnoth of Dale; one sister, June Seufert of Holland; by (6)
grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.

Jay Elbert Houchin, 64, of Huntingburg, passed away on Tuesday,
February 27, 2018.
He is survived by his wife, Carrie (Merrell) Houchin of
Huntingburg; two daughters and one son-in-law, Margaret (Brad) Coomer of
Jasper and Lucy Houchin of Birmingham,
England; his
mother, Anetta Houchin of Jasper; one sister, Randalyn Clabaugh of Jasper;
and one granddaughter, Georgia Coomer. Jay was preceded in death by his
father, Elbert Frank Houchin.
The son of Elbert and Anetta (Rice) Houchin, Jay was born
May 13, 1953, in Evansville,
Indiana. He married Carrie
Merrell in 1976 in Noblesville,
Indiana. He was Vice President of
Live Production at Farbest Foods and a respected leader in the turkey industry.
He served on several local, state, and national industry councils. Above all,
he was a devoted husband, a loving father, a wonderful grandfather, and a true
friend.
With his family and friends, Jay enjoyed life fully –
through good food and music, by visiting new places and being outdoors. He took
care of those around him and was a friend you could always call on. He was a
husband, a father, a friend, and a man that many admired.

Albert Hagedorn, 70, of Dale, passed away Wednesday, February
28, at home.
Albert was born March 16, 1947, to Leo and Eulalia (Fischer)
Hagedorn.
Albert was a retired teacher of North Spencer School
Corporation after 33 years of service and a self-employed farmer. He was a
member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish. He was also a member of the American
Gelbvich and Angus Associations.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, loved attending
his grandkids activities and enjoyed watching country music shows at Corydon.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Donna (Schum)
Hagedorn; three sons, Phil (JoAnn), Jason (Martha) and Aaron (Sheila);
seven grandkids, Cody, Dylan, Madison, Jacob and Kendra Hagedorn, Lacey (Casey)
VanWinkle and Jayme Lindauer; five siblings, Margie (Gilbert) Kleaving, Diane
(Steve) Goffinet, Larry Hagedorn, Betty (Rick) Rosbottom and Mark (Darla)
Hagedorn.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents.

Glenda Sue Dupont, age 64, of Chrisney, passed away at 3:30
a.m., on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at Willowdale Village
in Dale.
She was born January 9, 1954, in Tell
City, Indiana to
James Wilson and Goldie (Hall) Dupont. Glenda worked at Lincoln Industries in
Boonville; and enjoyed flower gardening and nature walks. She was preceded in
death by her daughter, Pamela Sue Beard, who passed away on November 27, 1988;
and one sister, Addie Sturgeon.

MaryAlice Parks passed away at the Northwood Good Samaritan
Retirement Center on Monday, March 19, 2018. She was 73 years old. Mary Alice
was the daughter of Lt. Col. Gordon T. and Eva F. Parks and the granddaughter
of Rev. Christopher W. and Alice Dillin Parks all of Huntingburg. She is
survived by a niece and three great nieces. She is a descendant of the original
pioneers in Dubois and Orange
Counties. Mary Alice was
a third generation graduate of Huntingburg
High School. She was
born… in Augusta, Georgia on November 3, 1944.
Mary Alice graduated with a B.A. from Indiana
University and an M.A. from the University of Cincinnati. She worked in Technical
Sales at Cincinnati Sub-Zero specializing in temperature controlled equipment
and as an Application Engineer at Waterbury Farrel-Textron in Cheshire,
Ct specializing in cold heaters, transfer presses and optical comparators; and
Bendix Automation and Measurement in Dayton,
Ohio specializing in computerized
measurement. At one time she was also Marketing Director and the Center
Director of SIRS.
Her interests were history, gardening, furniture refinishing, mah jong and Shiloh Cemetery.
Mary Alice was the moving force in starting the Shiloh Pet Cemetery in 2000. She was a Master Gardener
and a member of the DAR.
Funeral services for Mary Alice Parks will be held at 1:00 p.m., E.D.T., on
Sunday, March 25, 2018, at the 1849 Shiloh Meeting House on Shiloh Road near Ireland.
Graveside rites will be conducted at Shiloh
Cemetery following the

Doris June Wibbeler, age 87, of Huntingburg, formerly of Holland, passed away at
12:40 p.m., on Monday, March 19, 2018, at The Waters of Huntingburg.
She was born July 25, 1930 in Oakland
City, Indiana to
Harry and Sarah (Bowman) Holderbaugh. Doris graduated from Oakland City
High School in 1948; and
married Wallace Wibbeler on July 3, 1949, at the Holland Methodist parsonage.
She was employed as a lab technician at Holland Dairy for 27 ˝ years; was a
member of the Holland United Methodist… Church and Holland United Methodist
Women; and enjoyed following the church’s softball team, playing bridge,
canning produce from the garden, and spending time with all her grandchildren. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband,
Wallace Wibbeler, who passed away June 18, 2013; two brothers, Paul and Cleon
Holderbaugh; and one sister, Lucille Arnold.
She is survived by three daughters and three sons-in-law, Debra (Alan) Carmack
of Evansville, Jennifer (Alan) Kern of Huntingburg and Beth (Earl) Carter of
Huntingburg; one son and daughter-in-law, Jon (Betty) Wibbeler of Holland; by

Nancy Marie Kendall Schaeffer, known to friends and family as
Marie, passed away Sunday morning, March 18, 2018, at The Waters of Huntingburg
in Huntingburg, Indiana,
and was born on April 19, 1920 in Huffman Mills, Perry County
– the seventh of Rev. John and Melissa Kendall’s 11 children.
A mother of two, a grandmother of five, a great grandmother of 13, a
great-great grandmother of six, and a loving wife to Herman Schaeffer (1915 –
1970), Marie leaves a legacy of love, joy, and goodwill.
Marie passed away at 4:32 a.m., on Sunday, March 18, 2018, at The Waters of
Huntingburg.
She was actively involved in the American Legion, VFW, Eagles, and the Catholic
Church, but was best known for her cooking and baking for numerous functions,
especially for her pies and fried chicken. Always a dedicated worker, her
employment throughout the years included the now-famous Uhl Pottery, Whirlpool
defense plant during World War II, General Electric, Songer’s Family
Restaurant, the Co-Op, and the City of Huntingburg.
Marie married Herman Schaeffer – a decorated soldier who marched through North Africa, Italy,
and France
through two and one half uninterrupted years during World War II – in 1945 and
remained married until Herman’s death in 1970.
During Marie’s nearly 98 years of life, she was well known for her jovial
personality and her liking of everyone. Full of life and beaming with
personality, Marie stands as an icon in the community of Huntingburg.
Marie is survived by one sister, Lois Patton of Huntingburg, her two sons – Robert
Kendall of San Antonio and Russell Schaeffer of Huntingburg – and five
generations of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great
grandchildren. From your wealth of friends and family, you will be missed.

Carl Ray Newton, 80, of Huntingburg, went to be with the Lord
early Wednesday morning, on March 14, 2018, in the emergency room of Memorial Hospital
and Health Care Center
in Jasper.
He was born January 14, 1938, in Birdseye, Indiana to Oscar and Mildred (Roland) Newton; and married Shirley Wilkey on
December 4, 1970. Ray was an Army veteran, a 34 year employee of Styline
Industries, and long-time member of the First Pentecostal Church of Birdseye.
Ray is survived by his wife,… Shirley Newton of Huntingburg; son, David Ray
Newton of Evansville; siblings, Janet Thurston
of French Lick and George Newton of Texas;
and by several nieces and nephews.

at 8:58 a.m., on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at the Northwood Retirement Community
in Jasper.
She was born August 18, 1936, in Huntingburg,
Indiana to John J. and Theckla
(Geesken) Junge; and married Gerald “Jerry” Schroeder on June 13, 1959, at St.
Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg. Ginny retired from St. Joseph’s Hospital where she worked in the
medical records department. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church,…
St. Mary’s Ladies Sodality, V.F.W. Post #2366 Auxiliary, Fraternal Order of
Eagles, American Legion Post #147 Auxiliary, Jasper Moose Lodge #1175, and the
German Club of Jasper. Ginny enjoyed trips to the casino, bowling, and playing
cards with friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald “Jerry”
Schroeder, who died March 23, 1993; and two sisters, Betty Sollman and Mary Lee
Smith.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Sonda (Randy) Simpson of
Huntingburg; one son and daughter-in-law, John (Sara) Schroeder of Huntingburg;

Barbara Zink, 82, of Mansfield,
Ohio went home to be with the
Lord on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at her home. She was born on June 17, 1935 in Richland City, Indiana.
Barbara was the daughter of Lester and Ona Mae (Jones) Hagan.
Barbara lived most of her life in Huntingburg, Indiana , and she graduated from Rockport
High School in Rockport, Indiana.
This was a huge accomplishment and one she was very proud of as she was the
first in her family to graduate. A few words that could describe… Barbara are
caring, patient, loving and faithful. She was a doting grandmother who adored
her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a marvelous cook and made
the best chimichangas and peanut brittle. In her spare time, she enjoyed the
game of triominoes and crochet, enjoyed reading about the Royal family and
current events. She enjoyed sports and was an Indianapolis Colts, St. Louis
Cardinals, and Indiana Pacers fan. She was a faithful member and supported both
the Christian Life
Church in Mansfield and Calvary Temple Pentecostal in
Huntingburg.
She is survived by her son, David (Tammy) Zink of Mansfield; grandchildren, Ann
Powell, Bronson (Barbara) Eckert, Stephanie (Brian) Robnett, Kyle (Alissa)
Zink, John Messer, Alaina (Marvin) Smith, and Kimberly (Josh) Anderson;
great-grandchildren, Eirka, Brice, Melanie, Macey, Paris, Katie, Nick, Dillon,
Ava, Breanna, Ryan, Ethan, Claire, Evan, Alexa, Harley, Lily, Jesse, Gage, and
Emma; sister, Loretta Underhill of Rockport, Indiana; numerous nieces, nephews,
great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 58 years, Franklin

Michael A. Carota, 72, of Huntingburg, passed away on

Hospital emergency room,
Jasper.
He was born on August 8, 1945, in Monterey, California to Mario and Estelle (Field) Carota as one of
eighteen siblings; and married Wanda Hatton on December 31, 1999 in Wheatland, Indiana.
He was a Viet Nam
veteran and worked as a lineman and heavy equipment operator. He was a member
of the Northside Christian Church, American Legion, VFW and Jasper Moose
Lodge.… He was preceded in death by his son, James “Jamie” Reed.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda J. Carota; two daughters, Connie (Neil) Ball

Margaret Mae Springston, 87, of Selvin, Indiana
passed away April 13, 2018, at her home. She was born July 11, 1930, in Wheatcroft, Kentucky
to the late Sybil and Homer Holland.
Margaret was a member of Selvin
United Methodist
Church. She was very
active in her church and community. Margaret always looked forward to spending
time with her family and was a person concerned about her neighbors and willing
to help them in any way possible.
Margaret was preceded in death by her… beloved husband, Grenade Springston; her
son, Keith Springston; three sisters; and two brothers.
Margaret is remembered with love by her daughter, Brenda Beard (Steve) and two

Helen Elizabeth Rademacher, age 102, of Holland, passed away at 8:30 p.m., on

married Andrew Rademacher on September 7, 1940, at St. John’s Evangelical & Reformed Church
in Bretzville.
She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Holland where she was a long-time Youth Choir
Mother and a member of the… Women of the Church. Helen also enjoyed working
outdoors with her flowers and mowing grass. She loved spending time with her
grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Andrew Rademacher, who
passed away on January 4, 1983; one sister, Mildred Welp; and seven brothers,
Arthur, Edgar, Alvin, Carl, Gilbert, Elmer and Alfred Schwartz.
She is survived by two daughters, Roseann (Ron) Scott and Janet (Parvin) Smith,
both of Dale, Ind.; three sons, Eugene (Mary Jane) Rademacher of Holland, Ind.,
Terry (Debbi) Rademacher of Memphis, Ind., and Joe (Anita) Rademacher of Montgomery,
Ind.; two sisters, Flora (Bob) Phillipy of Jasper, Ind. and Ardella Meyer of
Mayfield, Kentucky; by (11) grandchildren, (16) great grandchildren and (7)
great-great grandchildren.

Orville Gene Lemond, age 60, of Huntingburg, passed away on
Friday, April 6, 2018, at his residence.
He was born August 2, 1957, in Huntingburg,
Indiana to Peter and Cordelia
(Uppencamp) Lemond. Orville was a long-time employee of the Huntingburg Vault
Company. He was preceded in death by his father, Peter Lemond.
Orville is survived by five children, Jennifer Hopper of Dale, April

a.m., on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at his home.
He was born May 18, 1947, in Huntingburg, Indiana to Edgar and Mildred K. (Schmett) Blemker; and
married Leanna Thompson on August 21, 1971, at the Huntingburg United
Methodist Church.
John was a retired industrial arts teacher having taught at Southridge,
Northeast Dubois and Forest Park High Schools; a softball coach; and assistant
football coach. He was a member of the… Huntingburg United Methodist Church,
the Marine Family Support Group of Dubois County, the Tri-State Marine Family
Support Group of Evansville, and was a local Toys for Tots program volunteer.
John enjoyed farming; hunting and fishing; and was known for his candy making.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Jerald Blemker.
John is survived by his wife, Leanna Blemker of Huntingburg; one son, Jason
Blemker of Andover, Minnesota; one brother, Jim (Millie) Blemker
of Holland; and his grandson, Jace Blemker. He also leaves behind a large group
of students and athletes, particularly from the girls’ softball team, who
considered him a friend, mentor and father figure.

Gene Peterson, age 86, of Birdseye, died on Tuesday, March 27,
2018, at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville.
Gene was born in Crawford County,
Indiana on September 30, 1931 to
Fred and Pearl Peterson. He married Neva Madden on August 29, 1952, in Franklin, Indiana.
She preceded him in death on August 25, 2017.
Gene was a retired custodian from the Southeast Dubois County School
Corporation, a former truck driver, and served as a cook in the U.S. Army.
Gene’s greatest joy was his grandchildren,… to whom he was affectionately known
as Papaw.

Rosemary Runyon Kendall, age 64, of Jasper, formerly of
Huntingburg, passed away on Monday morning, April 16, 2018, at her home.
She was born October 12, 1953, in Bloomington,
Indiana to Louis and Gleeda Rose
(Hillenburg) Runyon. Rosemary had worked at Sound Design in Santa Claus and
Kimball International in Jasper. She was preceded in death by her parents; two
sons, Travis Wayne Kendall and Joshua DeWayne Kendall; two siblings, Ernest
Hillenburg and Kathy Runyon; and one grandson,… Matthew Wayne Kendall.
She is survived by six siblings, Joyce Abbitt of Indianapolis,
Roger Runyon of Martinsville, Margie Runyon

Vernon was a 1955 graduate of Jasper High School.
He was an insurance agent for Prudential for 32 years.
He was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church, the Jasper Outdoor
Recreation, the Jasper K of C.
He enjoyed fishing, boating, travelling, and watching I.U. Basketball.

Dolores was born in Jasper, Indiana,
on September 17, 1929, to Othmar and Catherine (Mehringer) Sermersheim. She
married Karl W. Eckerle on June 6, 1950, in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Jasper. He
preceded her in death on November 4, 1994.
Dolores previously worked at Dairy Queen and K-Mart in Jasper, and was a
volunteer at Northwood Good Samaritan in Jasper.

She enjoyed quilting, sewing, crocheting, and spending time with her
grandchildren.

He is a member of St. Isidore Parish- St. Celestine Campus. Celestine Community
Club and former member of the Jasper Moose Club.
Bob enjoyed his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, gardening and traveling
especially restoring antique tractors.

a.m. on Monday, April 2, 2018, at Cathedral Health in Jasper.
Arnold was born on March 13,
1936, in Jasper, Indiana
to William and Ottilia (Stenftenagel) Mehringer. He married Betty Ann Smith on
January 28, 1956, in St. Celestine Catholic Church.
Arnold
retired as a lineman for Jasper Municipal Utilities Electric Department after
38 years of service. He also bartended part-time at the Chicken Place in Ireland for over 23 years. He
was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church and Jasper Outdoor Recreation.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, picking pecans, cooking, and in
his leisure time he also enjoyed quilting and coloring. He was also an avid
Cincinnati Reds and IU Basketball fan.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Ann Mehringer of Jasper; three
daughters, Sandy Mehringer Johnson of Ripley, W.V., Joyce Mehringer Siddons of

and Linda (Mattingly) DeJarnett. She married Billy Joe “Butch” Hensley. He
preceded her in death on February 21, 2012.

and formerly worked at Gibson

enjoyed gardening, spending time in outdoors, her dog “Mister”, her cat “Ryan

He was born June 5, 1933, in Loogootee, Indiana
to the late Chet and Doris (Doyle) Clements.
Richard was a United States Army Veteran and served overseas
during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 120 and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
He worked at Midwest Printing for several years as a
lithographer. He was an avid Loogootee Lions and Indiana University
basketball fan and enjoyed watching IndyCar racing.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ruth (Jones)
Clements; parents, Chet and Doris (Doyle) Clements; son-in-law, Tony Burton.

St. Ferdinand Church.
William was retired from General Electric after 37 years of
service. William enjoyed Nascar. He was a member of Christ the King Parish, St.
Ferdinand.
William is survived by his wife, Mary Dauby of Ferdinand;
one son, Ross Dauby of State College, Pennsylvania; two daughters, Laurel Dauby
of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Shaina Dauby of Ferdinand.

Martin J. “Marty” Olinger, 62, formerly of Ferdinand, passed
away on Saturday, February 17, 2018, in Barstow,
California.
Marty was the son of the late Nestor and Lenora Olinger of

High School and the Hobart School of
Welding Technology in Troy,
Ohio. He enjoyed making crafts
out of wood and metal as well as riding motorcycles.

(Brinkmeyer) Blesch. Don was united in marriage to Clara Mae Evrard on July 18,
1954, in Holland.

Teresa A. Moffatt, 56, of French Lick, entered into eternal
rest on March 20, 2018, at Springs Valley Meadows, French Lick.
She was born on August 28, 1961, in Van Nuys, California,
to William Warren and Carol (Stringer) Warren. Teresa married Steve
Moffatt on May 14, 2001, and he survives.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Teresa was of the Christian faith. She was employed as a
bartender and was one of the first plus plus-size models at the French Lick
Hotel.
Teresa is survived by her husband, Steve Moffatt of French
Lick; two sons, Daniel Lagenour of French Lick and Nathaniel Young of Lyles,
Tenn.; three brothers, Charles Clevidence of Franklin, Tenn., Jonathan Clevidence
of Mitchell and Kelly Warren of Vincennes; one sister, Dana Beatty of Jasper;
five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

David L. Buechlein, 78, of Jasper, passed away at 4:37
p.m. CDT on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at St.
Vincent Hospital in Evansville.
David was born in Jasper on October 16, 1939, to George and
Theresa (Fritz) Buechlein. He married Martha Zoll on November 24, 1960, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Tell City.
He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the VFW Post
#673. David retired from Jasper Cabinet Company after 41 years of service.
He was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church and their Men’s Club, he was
also a member of the Jasper Knights of Columbus and the Jasper Moose. He
enjoyed gardening, wine making, was an avid I.U. Basketball, Indianapolis
Colts, and St. Louis Cardinal’s fan, and enjoyed spending time with friends and
family.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Buechlein of Jasper; two
daughters, Jackie Howard of Jasper and Jo Ann Mehringer of Jasper; three sons,
Brad Buechlein (Sheila) of Jasper, Mathew Buechlein (Dori Yorysh) of Ft.
Lauderdale, Fla. and Greg Buechlein (Nancy) of Ireland; seven grandchildren;

Rosalee was born on August 20, 1926, in Ireland, Ind.,
to Leo and Rosina (Giesler) Hoffman. She married Lawrence
“Lefty” Stemle on October 30, 1948, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland. He
preceded her in death on February 2, 2013.
Rosalee was a graduate of Ireland High School. She
was a homemaker and worked at Leed’s Selling Tools and Braunecker Cabinet
Company. She enjoyed playing golf and cards.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland.

Robert L. Meyer, 91, of Jasper, passed away at 3:33
p.m. on Monday, April 9, 2018, at Cathedral Health Care Center in Jasper.
Bob was born in Haysville on February 15, 1927, to Leo and
Amanda (Kieffner) Meyer. He married Joan Albert on May 8, 1954, in Ferdinand, Indiana.
He was a United States Army veteran and served during the
Korean War Conflict. He was a banker for 35 years at Dubois County Bank, which
is now Old National Bank. He was a charter member of Redeemer Lutheran
Church in Jasper, a
lifetime member, past commander and bookkeeper of V.F.W. Post #673, American
Legion Post #147, Jasper Moose, Jasper Civitan, Jasper Masonic Lodge, and he
was a Shriner.
He enjoyed collecting stamps and coins, and he loved to
fish.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Meyer of Jasper; five
children, Bruce (Lynn) Meyer of Emerald Isle, N.C., Donna (John) Hellman of
Velpen, Cheryl Blackwell of Carmel, Brian (Jane) Meyer of Fishers and Kurt
(Heather) Meyer of Westfield, Ind.; 15 grandchildren; seven

Collette Porter Kennedy, 70, of Ferdinand, passed away Sunday,
April 8, 2018, in Ferdinand.
Collette was born March 27, 1948, to Bernard P. and
Priscilla (Birchler) Porter in Fulda.
Collette retired from the State of Tennessee. She enjoyed reading, crocheting,
drawing and painting. She was a member of the Ferdinand Senior Citizens. She
was a Reiki Master massage therapist.
Surviving are brothers, Patrick Porter of Newburgh and
Charles (Rachel) Porter of Bristow; sisters, Jean Hay of Austin, Texas,
Linda Durcholz and Denise Porter, both of Ferdinand, Joyce (Earl) Parker of
Forney, Texas, Judith Stillwell of Evansville, and Debbie (John) Blakey of
Gentryville; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She also is survived by her dog, Timmy.
Collette was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Ann
McMahon; and four brothers, Regis, James, Tom and Mike Porter.
Visitation will be held at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand
from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 11.
Cremation was chosen by Collette.
James B. Knies, 78, of St. Anthony, passed away at 10:50
a.m. on Monday, April 9, 2018.
Jim was born in Celestine in 1939 to Bernard and Albertha
(Heldman) Knies. He married Bonnie Bieker on July 13, 1963, in St. Anthony
Catholic Church.
Jim was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the American
Legion Post #493 in St. Anthony. He retired as a supervisor for JOFCO in
Jasper after 45 years of service.
Jim served on the St. Anthony Volunteer Fire Department and
as a first responder for 28 year, and continued to serve asa director on the
fire department for over 50 years of service. He was also a member of the St. Anthony
Community Center.
He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish – St. Anthony Church.
Jim enjoyed camping and was a member of the Camping
Hoosiers, fishing, line dancing, playing cards, gardening, and spending time
with friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Knies of St. Anthony; one
daughter, Gina Hoffman (Ron) of Ferdinand; one son, Dean Knies (Tricia) of
Bretzville; four grandchildren, Devinn and Klayton Knies, and Bailey and Carson
Hoffman; three sisters, Rosetta Hasenour, Connie Schroering, and Sharon Burger
(Jerry), all of Jasper; seven brothers, Dennis Knies of St. Anthony, Albert
Knies of Huntingburg, Virgil Knies (Frances), Bernard Knies (Diane) and Randall
Knies (Janice), all of Celestine and Paul Knies (Carol), and Perry Knies
(Jane), both of Jasper.
Preceding him in death were three brothers, Ernest, Vernon and Jerome
Knies; two brothers-in-law, Delmar Schroering and Tony Hasenour and two
sisters-in-law, Ruth and Cyrilla Knies.
A Mass of Christian Burial for James B. Knies will be held
at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 12, 2018, at St. Anthony Catholic
Church in St. Anthony with burial to follow in St. Anthony Cemetery. The St. Anthony American Legion Post

Charles L. Dilger, 76, of St. Anthony, passed away at 8:30
a.m. on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at home.
He was born in St.
Meinrad, Indiana on
May 16, 1941, to Fred and Frances (Mehling) Dilger. He married Veronica
“Fronie” Sermersheim on June 25, 1966, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland. She
preceded him in death on February 28, 2018.
Charlie retired from UPS after 26 years of service. He
served in the Indiana Army National Guard. He was a member of Divine Mercy
Parish – St. Anthony Church where he served as an usher for many years and was
a member of the Cemetery Board.
He was a member of the St.
Anthony Community
Center, where he served as a director. And he was a
member of the Mariah Hill YMI. He was also active in scouting.
Charlie enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and spending time
with friends and family.
He is survived by three sons, Mark Dilger (Terri) of Richland, Steve Dilger (Heather) of Jasper and Dave Dilger
of Jasper; two grandchildren, Kyla and Kevin Dilger; one sister, Betty
Mehringer of Ireland;
and one brother, James B. Dilger (Linda) of St. Meinrad.
Preceding him in death besides his wife was one son Dean
Dilger.

Linus R. Wigand, 87, of Jasper, passed away at 11:05
a.m. on Friday, April 6, 2018, at Brookside Village in Jasper,
IN.
Linus was born in Jasper, Indiana on September 18, 1930, to John and
Alice (Schlachter) Wigand. He married Rosemary Heeke on April 25,
1953, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper.
Linus worked at Hoffman Bros., Sternberg Garage, and retired
as a bartender from the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #673 in Jasper after 37
years of service.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Holy
Name Society, Jasper Outdoor Recreation, the American Legion Post 147, the
Knights of Columbus since 1952, and was a life member of the VFW Post #673.
Linus enjoyed working on cars when he was younger. He was a
NASCAR and St. Louis Cardinals fan. He enjoyed country music,
especially the Grand Old Opry, and spending time with his friends and family.
Surviving are his wife, Rosemary Wigand, one daughter,
Debbie Collignon of Jasper, three sons, Jeff (Bette) of Moline, Illinois, Gary
(Cheryl) Wigand of Jasper, and Ken (Kelly) Wigand of Jasper, nine
grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and four
step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Cleta Collins,
Helen Dooley, Agnes Lewis and Mary Jane Thalmueller; and one brother, Leon Wigand.

Betty A. Schwenk, 89, of Jasper, passed away at 11:40
p.m. on Monday, April 2, 2018, at home.
Betty was born in Jasper on August 9, 1928, to Louis and
Clara (Scherle) Kreilein. She married James Schwenk on June 14, 1949, in St.
Joseph Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on May 12, 2001.
Betty was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Joseph
Catholic Church in Jasper and their St.
Ann’s Sodality, and a member of the Jasper Circle of the Daughters of
Isabella.
Betty was also a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the
women of the Jasper Moose, and the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
She enjoyed playing golf, playing bridge, and spending time
with friends and family, especially her grandchildren.
Betty is survived by four daughters, Cindy Seng (Ken) of
Jasper, Cheryl Rohleder of Jasper, Chris Jahn (Romie) of Jasper and Cathy
Schuetter (Dave) of Huntingburg; seven grandchildren,
10 great-grandchildren, one brother, James Kreilein (Betty), Jasper.
Preceding her in death beside her husband was one
son-in-law, Keith Rohleder.

Hilda R. Pfister, 97, of Jasper, died peacefully at 4:35
a.m. on Monday, April 2, 2018, at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper
where she was well cared for the last three years.
Hilda was born at home at 320 East 7th Street in Jasper, Indiana, on Easter Sunday, April 4, 1920, to William “Bill”
and Regina
(Wenzel) Scherer.
She was the great-granddaughter of German Pioneers to Dubois County.
Hilda met Don A. Pfister on the night before he left for the Marine Corp to
serve in the Pacific Theatre of World War II, and waited devotedly for his return. A
few months after his arrival back home, they were wed on April 27, 1946, at St.
Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.
Hilda was a 1939 graduate of Jasper High School.
During the war, she was employed at the old Indiana Desk Company. After raising
a family she worked for the Holiday Inn in Jasper before becoming co-owner of
Don’s Burger Barn with her husband Don. He preceded her in death on November
20, 1988. She also worked 15 years for STAC in her later life.
She was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a
charter member of Holy Family Ladies Sodality, St. Ann’s Society, and the VFW Ladies
Auxiliary.
She enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, playing
bingo, going to the casino and listening to Daniel O’Donnell.
Hilda is survived by two daughters, Donna (Jim) Schroeder of
Jasper, Jeanne Pfister of St. Louis, Mo.; two sons, William J. Pfister of
Jasper and Robert (Kathy) Pfister of Jasper; seven grandchildren, Kim, Kevin,
Kurt, and Keith Schroeder, Zach and Krueger Pfister and Megan Schmieder; and 10
great-grandchildren with one on the way.
Preceding her in death are one great-granddaughter, four
sisters, Anna Mae (Ray) Gunselman, Bertha (Rufus) Streicher, infants, Laura and
Theresa Scherer, and an infant brother, Robert Scherer.

Sharon Lawson, 58, of Jasper, passed away at her residence on
Monday, April 2, 2018, at 3:30 a.m.
She was born on October 13, 1959, to Alyous and Johnnie (Clark) Spencer.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with friends
and family.
She is survived by her mother, Johnnie Spencer; her husband,
John Mehringer; daughter Crystal Fultz and companion John Brett, daughter,
Heather Trentlage and husband Mark; stepson, Kris Lawson; eight grandchildren,
Hope, Nathan, Kadence, Kaylee, Emma, Maddie, Abigail and Andrew; and four

John E. Sermersheim, 78, of Ferdinand, passed away, Saturday,
March 31, 2018, at his home in Ferdinand.
John was born May 2, 1939, in Ireland to Ben and Victoria (Hopf)
Sermersheim.
He was owner and operator of John Sermersheim’s Litter
Service. He worked for Henke Farms and Kramers Feedmill. He enjoyed driving
truck. John served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. John
was a member of Christ the King Parish, St. Ferdinand Chruch.
He is survived by one son, Scott (Tammy) Sermersheim of
Ferdinand; three daughters, Jennifer (Keith) Sherman and Jill (Greg) Sicard,
all of Ferdinand, Susan (Deb Lindsey) Sermersheim of Evansville; one brother,
Robert (Dolly) Sermersheim of Jasper; four sisters, Elizabeth (Linus) Fuhs,
Linda (Wes) Rohleder, all of Jasper, Rosemary (Robert) Schnaus of Ireland, Rita
(Donald) Werne of Plantation, Fla.; 10 grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by a brother, Jerome Sermersheim
and a sister, Dorothy Bartley.

Ryan Fleck, 45, of Ferdinand, passed away, Monday, April 2,
2018, at his home.
Ryan was born September 29, 1972, in Jasper to Gilbert and
Sylvia (Hopf) Fleck.
Ryan was an accountant at Krueger and Associates in Jasper.
He was a member of Christ the King Parish, St. Ferdinand Church. Ryan was an avid
fan of Indiana University, St. Louis Cardinals and the
Indianapolis Colts. He was a dedicated supporter of the Forest Park Letterman
Club and also of the Forest Park Football Boosters. He enjoyed cooking and
grilling. Ryan loved spending time with his nieces and nephews.
Ryan is survived by his parents, Gilbert and Sylvia Fleck of
Ferdinand; two brothers, Brad Fleck of Huntingburg and Bruce (Audrey) Fleck of
Ferdinand; three nieces, Loren, Grace and Hannah Fleck; two nephews, Grant and
Reid Fleck.

Robert E. Boyles, 74 of Jasper, passed away peacefully at home
at 8:49 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2018.
Bob was born in Bicknell on January 25, 1944, to James
and Pauline (Earley) Boyles. He married Deb Merter, his wife of 30 years, on
November 20, 1987, at Salem United Church of Christ in Huntingburg.
He was a United States Army veteran who served as an
information specialist in the Vietnam War and a was a member of the American
Legion Post #147 in Jasper.
Bob was the first graduate of the Vincennes University
Jasper Campus.
He retired from WITZ Radio in Jasper after 40 years of
service. He started his WITZ career on October 3, 1968. Known as the “Voice of
the Jasper Wildcats”, he announced basketball, football, and baseball sporting
events for Jasper and other area schools throughout his career. He was the
announcer for the Jasper Lions Club Radio Auction for many years and also
announced for many charitable events. He received the ISSA Marv
Bates Sportscaster of the Year Award and several other awards throughout his
career.
After retirement, he worked the last ten years as an
advertising consultant for Dubois County Tire and Supply.
He was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church In Jasper
and a charter member and the first president of the Jasper Optimist
Club. He was a member of the Jasper Moose and enjoyed his
involvement on the Ireland Celebration Committee.
He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, spending time at Beaver Lake,
watching I.U. Basketball, and was an avid pool player. His family was the center
of his life and enjoyed spending time with family and friends around the
campfire.
Surviving is his wife, Deb Boyles of Jasper, two daughters,
Karen Pieper ( Jason), Jasper, and Karla O’Connell (Elaine), Chrisman, IL, one
son, Clayton Boyles (Meredith), Jasper, five grandchildren, Brendan
O’Connell, Aiden, Zack, and Noah Pieper, and Weslyn Boyles, one
sister, Cyndi Smith (Gary) Chrisney, IN, and one brother, Steve
Boyles (Brenda), Tennessee.
Preceding him in death were his parents, and two brothers,
Jim and Kenneth Boyles.

Donald “Donny” Lee Hoffman, 74, of Ferdinand, passed away
Thursday, April 19th at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Evansville.
He was born January 12, 1944 in Ferdinand to Fred A. and
Marceda (Johanneman) Hoffman.
Donny was a carpenter/home builder. Donny was very proud to
build parade floats for Duckville. He also was involved in making Duckville
turtle soup. Donny enjoyed spending time on his farm. He was a member of Christ
the King Parish, St. Ferdinand Church. Donny served in the National Guard.
He is survived by two sons, Scott (Sara) Hoffman and Kevin
(Karen) Hoffman, all of Ferdinand; two daughters, Cindy (Tim) Eckstein of
Jasper and Kym (Darrin) Williams of Georgetown; three brothers, Kenneth (Rita)
Hoffman of Jasper, David (Margie) Hoffman of Ferdinand and Raymond (Bonnie)
Hoffman of St. Anthony; one sister, Patricia (Bob) Schuetter of Huntingburg;
nine grandchildren, Shanna, Derek, Dana, Kayla and Zack Hoffman, Kelsey and Seth

Donny was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and

Maureen Quinn Gregory, 70, who lived with her daughter and
son-in-law, Kelly and Ben Jones of Brookston, Indiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and
friends on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at White
County Memorial
Hospital in Monticello,
Indiana.
She was born on May 26, 1947, to John “Jack” and Mildred
(Rodgers) Quinn in Brooklyn,
New York. She married Bryan B.
Gregory on June 20, 1976, at Trinity United Church of Christ in Jasper, Indiana. He preceded her
in death on April 18, 2014.
Maureen earned a bachelor’s degree in education from St. Benedict
College in Ferdinand in 1969 and a
master’s degree from the IU School of Education. She began her 40-year teaching
career at Tenth Street Junior High before moving to Vincennes University
Jasper, where she later became a full-time professor of English and Chairman of
the Humanities Department. She served a short term as interim dean at VU Jasper
before her retirement in 2008. She and Bryan then moved from Jasper to Christmas Lake Village
in Santa Claus, Indiana.
She enjoyed golf, cooking, political debate, and collecting
all things Christmas. But most of all, she lived for spending time with
her dearest friends and family in celebration of even the most ordinary events.
Maureen is preceded in death by both her parents and her
husband, Bryan of 38 years.
She is survived by her children and grandchildren; stepson
Jason Gregory (Heidi) and Seth of Romney, Ind.; daughter, Kelly Gregory Jones
(Benjamin) of Brookston, Ind.; grandsons, Quinn and Jack; and son, Scott
Gregory of Fairfax, Cali.; three sisters, Barbra Rastocny (Peter Sr.), Karen
Grauer (William) both of Louisville, Ky. and Joanne Quinn of Fishers, Ind.;
nieces and nephews.

Alfred H. Jaeckle, a member of America’s
greatest generation, passed away on March 18, 2018, in El Paso, Texas.
Fred died one month shy of 93.
Born and raised in St.
Louis, Mo., where he
met and married Betty Jean, his wife of 62 years.
Fred lived a life filled with many accomplishments,
treasured friendships, a devoted family, and much love and laughter. After
serving our country in the Navy in World War II, he graduated from Northwestern University and began a career in sales
that spanned 47 years. His first position as sales representative for Mead
Johnson & Company in the early 1950’s led to greater responsibilities as
vice president of Sales Administration in the 1970s.
After a short stint as an executive at
Thermwood Corporation, Fred and his dear friend and partner, Michael
Wertman, founded Furniture Concepts International. When they retired in
1997, Fred pursued his life-long passions in golf, jazz, reading, traveling,
and rooting for the Cardinals baseball team full-time.
Fred was a very kind man, a very gentle man, a very wise
man. He was interested in every person he met and every innovative idea he
heard. He cared deeply about people and, as a result, people cared deeply
about him. He loved life and celebrated all the gifts life gave him.
He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Jean, his parents
Mildred and Alfred Jaeckle, and his youngest sister, Sally Blevins.
He leaves behind his daughter, Joy Jaeckle Baggett
and her husband Ken of El Paso, Texas, his son Kurt Alfred Jaeckle and his
wife Celeste Bunny Leach-Jaeckle of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida,
grandchildren, the eldest being Joanna Jaeckle Prazak, her husband Chris,
and Alan Jaeckle, all of Houston, Texas, his sister, Shirley Fette,
of Franklin, Tennessee, his lady friend Mary Lou Clayton, of Santa Claus,
Indiana, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grand-nephews.
We will miss him very much.

Evelyn R. Lemond, 85, of Evansville,
passed away Monday, April 16, 2018, at her residence.
She was born January 27, 1933, to Hugo and Ruth (Cunningham)
Finke in Huntingburg.
Evelyn is a graduate of Lockyear Business
College. She retired from
Fifth Third Bank Trust Department in 1989. She loved to travel the United States
with her husband Jim and also going on golf trips with various other couples.
But most of all she loved doting on her children and grandchildren.
Evelyn is survived by her husband, James Lemond of 64 years;
daughters, Kathy (Rusty) Miller of Evansville and Cheryl Ambrose of Berea, Ky.;
son, John (Lori) Lemond of Evansville; daughter-in-law, Sharon Lemond of
Newburgh; grandchildren, Nick (Katie) Miller of Evansville, Natalie (Pat) Oster
of Floyd Knobs, Ben (Kaitlyn) Lemond of Newburgh, Nathan (Melissa) Miller of
Indianapolis, Caitlin (Declan) Murphy of Columbus, Ind., Riley Ambrose of New

Father Eugene F. Heerdink, a pioneer of the Evansville Catholic
Diocese’s ministry to the Latino community, died April 13 at Methodist Hospital
in Indianapolis.
He was 92.
He was born in Evansville
on Jan. 23, 1926, to William and Olivia (Fromm) Heerdink.
He attended St. Meinrad Seminary in St, Meinrad. Bishop Henry
J. Grimmelsman ordained him a priest of the Diocese of Evansville on May 19,
1951.
Father Heerdink’s priestly assignments included Assistant,
St Joseph Parish, Evansville, 1951; assistant St. John the Baptist Parish,
Vincennes, 1952; assistant, St. Anthony of Padua Parish, Evansville, 1957;
administrator, then assistant, Holy Redeemer Parish, 1958; administrator, St.
Martin Parish, Whitfield, 1959; pastor, Holy Name Parish, Bloomfield, 1959;
pastor, St. John the Evangelist Parish, Loogootee, 1964; pastor, St. Matthew
Parish, Mount Vernon, 1969; five-year leave from the diocese for mission
service in South America, 1979; pastor, Blessed Sacrament Parish, Oakland City,
1985; five-year leave from the diocese for mission service in South America,
1987; pastor, St. Joseph Parish, Dale, 1992. Father Heerdink retired from
active ministry in June 2008.
Father Heerdink pioneered diocesan ministry to the Latino
community. He served as coordinator of the Diocesan Apostolate to Spanish
Speaking beginning in 1992, and as director of the Diocesan Ministry to Spanish
Speaking beginning in 1999. Father Heerdink also played a significant role in
bringing Catholic radio station WTJW 93.1 FM to Jasper in 2014.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include a brother, William, of Evansville; and a sister, Mary Woods, of Washington, Ind.

Rose T. Merkley, 92, of St. Anthony, passed away at 12:43
a.m. on Friday, April 13, 2018, at home.
Rose was born in Maltersville on February 23, 1926, to
William and Mary (Buechler) Gutgsell. She married Alban Merkley on July 5,
1949, in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper. He preceded her in death on
March 16, 2014.
She worked at the GE Plant in Huntingburg during World War
Two, welding filaments for radio tubes. Later, she retired from Inwood
Furniture Company.
Rose was a member of Divine Mercy Parish – St. Anthony
Church, where she was a member of the Christian Mothers. She was a past
president of the American Legion Post #493 Auxiliary, a member of the VFW #673
Auxiliary, the St. Anthony Community Center,
and the Older American’s Center.
She enjoyed quilting and sewing, cross stitch, gardening,
reading, and watching birds.
She is survived by two daughters, Lois June Wagner (Daniel)
of Ferdinand and Carol Ann Kreilein (Michael) of St. Anthony; six sons, Stephen
L. Merkley (Darlene) of St. Anthony, Randall A. Merkley (Sharon) of
Huntingburg, Robert F. Merkley (Donnettia) of Jasper, Michael G. Merkley of
Huntingburg, Kenny W. Merkley (Lisa) of Dubois and Leon K. Merkley (Karen)
of Jasper; 21 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and two
great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death besides her husband was one sister,
Marie Meyer; four brothers, Albert, Victor, Frank and Roman Gutgsell; and one
daughter-in-law, Annette Merkley.

Thomas Othmar Weyer, 66, of Saint Anthony, passed away Tuesday,
April 10, 2018, at his home.
Thomas was born November 14, 1951, in Huntingburg to Othmar
“Oats” & Helen (Heilers) Weyer. He was united in marriage to Doris L. Klem.
Thomas retired from Masterbrand Cabinets, Plant 4 in
Ferdinand. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, a member of Saint
Anthony American Legion Post # 493 and the Ferdinand American Legion Post 124.
He attended Redemption Christian Church in Jasper. He enjoyed fishing,
gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Doris L. Klem; two sons, Craig
(Lori) Weyer and Clifford (Leah) Weyer, both of St. Anthony; two daughters, Erin
Gould (Ryan Stemle) of Schnellville and Nina (Chad) Pitt of Plainfield; two
stepsons, Dwayne (Cindy) Klem of St. Anthony and Brian (Jennifer) Klem of
Coppell, Texas; three stepdaughters, Rhonda Oser of Bretzville, Sheila (Roman)
Wagner of St. Anthony and Glenda (Matt) Brames of Bretzville; 13 grandchildren

Francisco J. Lloveras, 43, of St. Meinrad, passed away April
10, 2018, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Evansville.
Francisco was born June 14, 1974, in San
Juan, Puerto Rico to Juan R. and
Carmen (Mattei) Lloveras. He married Marisol Franco on August 24, 1996, in San Juan.
Francisco was the Director of Music at St. Francis of Assisi
Parish. He had a deep love for God. Francisco loved music, family, friends and
playing board games. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish. Francisco
also belonged to the Brothers and Sisters of Charity, Berryville, AR.
Francisco is survived by his wife, Marisol; one son, Juan
Pablo at home; five daughters Chiara, Beth, Therese, Rose and Priscilla
Lloveras, all at home; his parents, Juan and Carmen Lloveras of San Juan,
Puerto Rico; three brothers, Juan A. (Chiqui) Lloveras and Carlos (Mayra)

Leona Kluemper, 98, of Jasper, passed away at 7:23 a.m.
Thursday, April 12, 2018, at Northwood Retirement Community in
Jasper.
She was born at Celestine on December 22, 1919, to George
and Caroline (Schnell) Heldman. She married Wilfred “Bill” Kluemper on June 17,
1944. He preceded her in death on September 5, 2007.
Leona along with her late husband owned and operated the Palm Gardens
at Bretzville for 17 years and then owned and operated Bill’s Truck Stop in Birdseye
for nine years. She was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church, Brute
Society, Ladies Sodality of Precious Blood and the V.F.W. Auxiliary to post #
673 in Jasper.
Leona enjoyed the many visits from friends, family,
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her hobbies included cooking, baking,
bingo and playing the harmonica and dancing.
She is survived by four daughters, Judith (Morris) Klem of
Jasper, Mary Jo (John) Hart of Jasper, Becky (Bill) Troesch of Ferdinand
and Jackie (Randy) Seifert of Jasper; seven sons, Donald (Kathy)
Kluemper of St. Anthony, Bob (Brenda) Kluemper of Villages,

Harold R. “Ronnie” Young, 70, of Jasper, passed away at 9:30
p.m. on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at home.
Ronnie was born in Owensboro,
Ky., on December 21, 1947, to
James and Ann Young. He married Carolyn Trotter on December 26,
1967.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the VFW Post
#673 and the American Legion Post #147. Ronnie has worked for National
Office Furniture 11th Avenue Plant in Jasper for the last 35 years. He was a
member of the Indiana Freemasons Lodge #520. He enjoyed his family and spending
time with his dog Otis.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Young of Jasper; two
daughters, Roxanne Snyder (Don) of Santa Claus and Jennifer Kaus of Jasper;
three grandchildren, Austin Anderson (Whitney), Dylan Anderson and Collin

on Monday, April 30, 2018, at home.
Dolores was born in Schnellville on November 8, 1944, to
Martin and Leona (Verkamp) Uebelhor. She was a graduate of St. Ferdinand
High School.
She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish – Sacred Heart
Campus and St. Joseph’s
Catholic Church in Jasper. Dolores was a secretary and bookkeeper for many
years at Habig Sales and Brosmer Surveying. She enjoyed dancing,
especially line dancing, doing crossword puzzles, playing Scrabble, hiking and
walking.
She is survived by three sisters, Mary Jane Brinkman of St.
Anthony, Sr. Mary Cheryl Uebelhor, OSB of Ferdinand and Virlee (Daniel)
Wendholt of St. Anthony; one brother, James H. (Alvenia) Uebelhor of
Schnellville; many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death is one sister, Helen Uebelhor, who
passed away as a child.

Naomi P. Kenworthy, 88, of Jasper, passed away at 3:50 a.m. on
Monday, April 30, 2018, at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.
Naomi was born in Orange County,
Indiana, on March 20, 1930, to Bernard and Florence (Morgenroth)
Stetter. She married Verlin C. Kenworthy on September 13, 1951, in St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mars Hill, Indiana.
He preceded her in death on February 14, 2018.
Naomi was a homemaker and was a seamstress at Siebert’s in
Jasper. Naomi was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the V.F.W.
Post #673 Auxiliary. She enjoyed making rosaries for the World Mission and
the Rosary Foundation, which provided Rosaries to penitentiaries across
the United States
and across the world. She also enjoy ceramics and needlepoint.

Thomas R. Brosmer, 78, of Jasper, passed away at 6:30 p.m. on
Sunday, April 29, 2018, at home.
Tom was born in Jasper, on October 8, 1939, to William and
Rose (Schroering) Brosmer. He married Judy Dorsam and she preceded him in
death November 3, 1989. He then married Jean Long on September 26, 2009,
at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper.
Tom was co-owner of Jasper Woodworking. He was a member
of Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper and a lifelong member of the Jasper
Wrestling Club. He enjoyed pontooning at Beaver Lake,
fishing, and was a St. Louis Cardinal and Indianapolis Colts fan.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Brosmer of Jasper; three
sons, Greg (Linda) Brosmer, Don (Cheri) Brosmer, Allen (Hayley) Brosmer
and one stepdaughter, Kristine Keller, all of Jasper; 10 grandchildren; 14
great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Catherine Mehringer; two brothers, Robert
(Ramona) Brosmer and Alf Brosmer, all of Jasper.
Preceding him in death are two sons, Brian and Keith
Brosmer, three sisters, Anna Mae DeMotte, Betty Brosmer, Lillian

Roberta H. Cave,
83, of French Lick, entered into eternal rest on April 26, 2018, at her
residence.
She was born in Martin
County on August 9, 1934,
and lovingly raised by her mother, Mary Louise (Wagoner) Eck, and stepfather,
George Eck.
Roberta married Ernest
Glen Cave
on September 5, 1950, and he survives.
She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather; one
son, William Mark Cave;
one infant sister, Linda Kay Eck; and four brothers, Donnie as an infant, Robert,
James and William Henry.
Roberta was a member of the Crystal Community
Church.
She is survived by her husband, Glen
Cave, French Lick; one son, Robert Lee Cave, Dubois; one daughter, Kathy Jo Eads (David), Darlington, South
Carolina; four grandchildren, Drew, Danielle, Brandon
and Blaine; and two great-granddaughters, Emmie Jo and Mia.

Amos F. Schnaus, 86, of Ireland, passed away at 10:30 a.m.
on Friday, April 27, 2018, at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.
Amos was born in Ireland,
Ind., on
November 27, 1931, to Frank and Clara (Stenftenagel) Schnaus. He married Mary
Ann Schwenk on November 26, 1953, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland.
A lifelong farmer, Amos was one of the first poultry
producers in the Ireland
area and was a member of the National Farmer’s Organization. He was a member of
St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland,
the Ireland Sportsman’s Club, the Jasper Knights of Columbus, and the Jasper
Moose.
He enjoyed hunting, was an avid I.U. Basketball and St.
Louis Cardinal’s baseball fan, and loved spending time with his family,
especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving is his wife Mary Ann Schnaus of Ireland; three
daughters, Gail Schnaus of Jasper, Sheila Donahue (David) of Alexandria, Va.
and Tama Stemle (Randy) of Celestine; one son, Scott Schnaus (Charlotte) of
Ireland; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Heichelbech
of Jasper; one brother, Leo Schnaus (Verena) of Ireland.

Frederick J. O’Brien, 84, of Jasper, passed away at 3:25 a.m.
on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at Memorial
Hospital and Health Care
Center in Jasper.
Fred was born in Huntingburg on July 25, 1933, to Franklin
N. and Josephine (Knebel) O’Brien. He married Gloria Bretz on August 13, 1955,
in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg. She preceded him in death on
February 7, 2018.
Fred was a 1951 graduate of Huntingburg High School.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in education in 1955 from Xavier
University and then earned his
master’s degree in education from Indiana
University.
Fred served in the Army Reserves for 30 years and retired as
a colonel. He was also the commander of the 324th Military Police Unit in
Jasper. He was a teacher for over 30 years in several school districts. He was
a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, and
great-grandchildren, especially attending their sporting events. He liked doing
crossword puzzles and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal’s baseball and Kentucky
Wildcat’s basketball fan.
Surviving are two daughters, Patti O’Brien of Huntingburg
and Liz (Joe) Milligan of Jasper; three sons, Michael (Andrea) O’Brien of
Jasper, Steve (Lisa) O’Brien of Jasper and Jim O’Brien of Lebanon; 11
grandchildren; one stepgrandson; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, John

A Mass of Christian Burial for Frederick J. O’Brien will be
held at 10:00 a.m. on April 27, 2018, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper,
Indiana, with entombment to follow in the Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on
Thursday, April 26, 2018, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel and one hour
before services at the church on Friday.

Roberta Jacqueline “Jackie” Berger, 88, of Jasper, passed away
at 6:45 p.m. on Monday, April 23, 2018, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper
with her four children by her side.
Jackie was born in Paragould,
Arkansas, on July 30, 1929, to
Thomas and Mary Catherine (Alvey) Stewart. She married Daniel J. Berger on June
9, 1951, in St. Louis, Missouri. He preceded her in death on
December 16, 2015.
Jackie was a graduate of Holy
Angels Academy
in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was a bookkeeper and
homemaker. She was a member of St. Joseph’s
Catholic Church in Jasper, St. Ann’s
Society, Jasper D of I, Beta Sigma Pi Sorority, and the Memorial Hospital
Auxiliary.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles, traveling and spending time
with her family and grandchildren. She also enjoyed watching the St. Louis
Cardinals and I.U. Basketball.
She is survived by two daughters, Chris (David) Drake of
Huntingburg and Terrie (Mike) Keusch of Jasper; two sons, Dr. Greg (Anne)
Berger of Jasper and Tom Berger of Jasper; six grandchildren; five
great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death besides her husband are two
grandchildren, Joey Berger and Angela Keusch; three sisters, Mabel Stewart,
Bernita Schillinglaw and Loretta Gordon; and two brothers, Charles and Eugene
Stewart.

Sharon Ann Hentrup, 61, of Jasper, passed away on Saturday,
April 21, 2018, at St. Vincent Medical Center
in Evansville.
Sharon
was born on October 30, 1956, to Roman and Alice (Englert) Hentrup.
She worked for Southern Indiana Resource Solutions
(S.I.R.S.) for several years. She was a member of Holy Family Parish in
Jasper. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, reading books and collecting
dolls. Her favorite color was purple.
Surviving are her parents, Roman and Alice Hentrup of
Jasper; one sister, Janice Weyer (Dennis) of Ferdinand; eight brothers, Roman
Hentrup Jr. (Margie) of French Lick, Allan Hentrup (Renee) of Jasper, Jeff
Hentrup (Tanya) of Huntingburg, Ronald “Whitey” Hentrup of Bretzville, Kenny
Hentrup (Cheryl) of Jasper, Mark Hentrup (Janis) of Indianapolis, Mike Hentrup
(Beth) of Holland and Paul Hentrup (Chris) of Jasper; 10 nieces and
nephews, Teresa, Stuart, Kreigh, Alex, Rachel, Shannon, Blake, Claire, Max, and
Nicole; three great nieces and nephews, Lucas, Kaitlyn, and Rhett.
Preceding her in death was an infant brother, John Hentrup.

Catholic Church in Jasper with entombment to follow in Fairview Cemetery
Mausoleum in Jasper.

KENDALL, HAROLD L. - 67, Orleans, died at 11:30 p.m. Monday at Paoli Convalescent Center in Paoli.
Born in Orange County, he was the son of EARL and PEARL (WININGER) KENDALL. He married BETTY REID on April 17, 1953, and she survives. He was a truck driver for 34 years and founded KENDALL Trucks and Parts in Orleans. He retired in November 1992. He was an Army veteran, a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church,
Orleans American Legion Warren Brock Post No. 69, American Truck
Historical Society and served in the Orange County Sheriff Reserve.
Surviving in addition to his wife, BETTY KENDALL of Orleans, are four
sons: MICHAEL BISH of Wawaka, HAROLD Jr. and GREG KENDALL, both of
Paoli, and KEVIN KENDALL of Rockport; two daughters: PAMELA BISH of
Austin, Texas and VICKI POGUE of Bloomfield; three brothers: FLOYD
KENDALL of French Lick, KENNETH and J. DALE KENDALL, both of Paoli; two
sisters: PAULINE TUSSEY of Jeffersonville and CARLOTTA COOK of
Sandborn; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his
parents; one sister, THELMA QUAKENBUSH; and four brothers: JOHN, TOM,
CARL and DWIGHT KENDALL. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Ochs-Tetrick Funeral Home, Orleans, with the Revs. BOBBY WOOD and WAYNE PENDLEY officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery with graveside military rites accorded by members of American Legion Warren Brock Post No. 69. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Orleans.
