Margery A. Conrad, daughter of David and Julia Wineinger
Milburn was born May 15, 1845 and departed this life June 5, 1935, aged 90
years and 27 days. She was the eldest of a family of nine children, of which
only two are yet living. At an early age she united with the Methodist
Episcopal Church at Hillham and later changed her membership to the United Brethren
Church at the same place.
Many years later, there being no United Brethren congregation near her home,
she placed her membership with the Christian Church of Cuzco, in which she remained until the end.
On October 23, 1870, she was united in marriage to Harrison Conrad. To this
union was born one child, Nina Alexander. The husband preceded her in death
more than sixty years ago. She worked hard to rear the little daughter. She was
patriotic, and during the Civil War she helped her mother make a living while
her father was in the army. During the World War she knitted more garments than
any person of this place for the soldier boys. She was one of the few who could
relate experiences of hearing the wolves howl in the woods and other incidents
of pioneer days.
