Steamboat In Patoka

STEAMBOAT IN PATOKA: On last Friday the citizens around Pikeville were startled by the whistle of a boat, apparently in the woods and numbers gathering at the river to see what it was. Soon their curiosity was gratified by a sight never before witnessed in Patoka.
A small steamer gracefully rounded the bend below the village and headed for a pile of staves on the bluff bank, where she rapidly took on a load of staves and started downsteram with them. The possibilities of a steamboat navigation in Patoka as far as Jasper have now been brought under discussion and some of our enterprising citizens will likely make the experiment.
