Coburn,, a son of Ebenezer and Deliverance (Wilson) Coburn, was born in Ontario County, N.Y., Aug . 8, 1825, and was two years of age when his parents moved to Trumbull County, Ohio, and thirteen when they moved to De Kalb County, Ind.. He remained with his parents, assisting in the cultivation of the farm, till his marriage, and then took charge of the old homestead and cared for his parents the remainder of their lives. For forty- six years he has lived on his farm, and has witnessed and materially assisted the development of the county. For twenty years he worked at the carpenter and joiner’s trade in connection with farming. He was married July 6, 1845, to Mary Milliman, daughter of John and Mary (Warren) Milliman. They have had a family of eleven children, nine of whom are living---Augustus B., Sarah J., Phoebe Eve, Elsie Ann, Mary E., Alva S., Warren W., Caroline E. and Harriet A.. Mr. and Mrs. Coburn have been members of the Christian church forty-five years. Politically he has been a member of the Republican party since its organization.
