Coburn, deceased, was born in Ontario County, N.Y., March 3, 1803, and died in De Kalb County, Ind., July 11, 1874. He was a son of Asher and Esther (Whitney) Coburn, who moved to Trumbull County, Ohio, about 1818, where he lived with them till manhood. He was by occupation a farmer, following it in Ohio till his removal to De Kalb County, Ind., March 1, 1836. Here he entered 240 acres of Government land on sections 23 and 24, Concord Township, which he cleared and improved and made his home till his death. He was married June 13, 1823, to Hannah Headley, daughter of Samuel and Rachel (James) Headley, who came from Pennsylvania to Ohio in an early day. To them were born three children---Phoebe, wife of Jacob Dermott; Francis, deceased; Roxanna, widow of Harvey Ackley. His wife died Sept. 8, 1857, aged fifty-three years. He afterward married Mrs. Susan Shull, now resident of Allen County. He was a member of the Disciple church.
