27th Reg. Co. D IN volunteer Inf. He was wounded at the battle at
Antitum Sept. 17, 1862.
He
lost his left arm above the elbow and was discharged December 6.1862.
He was born in May of 1831 in NJ,
a
grandson of patriot John Grace. He was married to Charlotte Hawkins of
Daviess Co on Nov. 19.1857. He
served
for a time as Coroner and also as Constable. He died Oct.26, 1908 in
Oakland City and is buried in Flat Creek
cemetery
near Velpen.

Charles B., died 08 July 1865 in Fort Donelson, TN. He was the son of
David m. and Dolly Hixson. Charles is was born in 1843, Mason County KY
on of 4 boys. His brother Jasper M. Enlisted in IL, was wounded at the
battle of Chicamuauga and later died of the wound. Charles enlisted 04
