EDWARD WHITE TAKEN BY DEATH
Edward White, 77, died at his home at 207 John Street, after a serious
illness of one month. His death occurred at 12:30 this morning. He
had been in failing health several years and had retired from the Baltimore
and Ohio shops in 1937 as boilermaker's helper after 32 years in that
work. Deceased was born in Veale Township on September 7, 1872, the
son of Nelson and Margaret Fidler White. He was married to Nancy Jane
Armes on July 29, 1902, and she survives with three children: Ralph
Jack White, Evansville, and Mrs. Fern Hendrickson and Mrs. Dorothy
Taylor, city. Two children, Orval W. and Eugene preceded their father
in death. There are four grandchildren, and a sister and brother, Mrs.
Hayes Armes, city, and Isaac White, Veale township. Mr. White was a
member of the Spanish American War Veterans and had served in that
war. He also held membership in the Boilermakers Union and the First
Baptist Church. He received his education in the Veale schools. Funeral
services will be held at 2:30 Monday afternoon at Aikman Creek church
with burial in the adjoining cemetery. The Rev. Dr. William R. Seat
will have services. Friends may call at the Gill Chapel to pay respects.
