John J. Ward

The funeral of John J. Ward will be at 10:30AM Wednesday at the Christ United Methodist Church. The casket will be taken to the church at 9AM Wednesday. The Rev. Loran Campbell will officiate. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9PM Monday and from 2 to 9PM Tuesday at the Gill Funeral Home. Mr. Ward, 57, 1201 S. Meridian St., died while on vacation in Myrtle Beach, S.C. at 6PM Friday. He was born Nov. 11, 1924 in Daviess County to Elisha Oswald and Anna (Valin) Ward. He married Vera C. Chestnut June 9, 1946 and she survives. Mr. Ward owned and operated Ward Cabinet Shop. He was a 1942 graduate of Washington High School and was a navy veteran having served in World War II. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. Surviving besides his wife, are one son, Randolph J. Ward, city; three sisters Mrs. Lee (Lorena) Wilson, city; Mrs. Robert (Virginia) Ruley, Indianapolis; and Mrs. Francis (Barbara) Utterback, Beech Grove; and one brother, Richard Ward, Carmel. Services for John J. Ward were at 10:30AM today at the Christ United Methodist Church. Rev. Loran Campbell officiated and burial was in Bethany Cemetery. Pallbearers were Randolph Ward, Richard Ward, Kenneth Mauck, Francis Utterback, Fred Hill, and A.C. Spillman.
