Barbara Ruth Tillie, 75, 604 S. Meridan Street, died at 3 p.m. Thursday at Hillside Manor Nursing Home.
Born February 25, 1932 in Daviess County, she was the daughter of Thomas Rollie and Annabell (Gadberry) Potts.
A 1951 graduate of Sonora High School in California, she served as a dental technician in the Air Force during the Korean War.
In her early life, she worked as a telephone operator in California, was a former employee of Danner's 3-D Store in Washington and later worked at Allied Film Company in Washington. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Vincennes, where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years.
She was a member of the church's Relief Society and choir and was very active in all activities of the church. She was a former member of a bowling league and was a den mother of a Boy Scout troop.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond Tillie, whom she married February 28, 1956; one daughter, Theresa Rose Leonard of Washington; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey R. and Lana Tillie of Evansville; Robert R. Tillie of Remington, Virginia; John R. and Debra Tillie of Ft. White, Florida; and Jody C. and Dianna Williams of Washington; nine grandchildren; and one brother, Byrl Potts of Washington.
She is preceded in death by her stepmother, Edna Potts Foster; sister, Virginia Trujillo; and brothers, Edward and Robert Potts.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Gill Chapel, with Bishop Ryan Lough officiating. Entombment will be in Sugarland Memory Gardens Mausoleum. The American Legion and V.F.W. will presen the flag at committal services.
Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
