Charles O. Swickard

Charles O. Swickard, 81, 303 SE 15th St., died at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Vincennes Good Samaritan Hospital.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Gill Chapel with Bro. Cliff Woodrum officiating and burial in Alfordsville Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the First Christian Church Building Fund.
He was born June 27, 1903, in Reeve Township, the son of Alexander and Alice Walls Swickard. He married Lillian Leming June 30, 1921, and she survives. He and Jesse Leming raised pure-bred Angus cattle for many years in Reeve Township. He retired from farming in 1963, and moved to Washington where he worked as a carpenter for 20 years. He retired from the latter profession last year.
Swickard was a member of the First Christian Church, of which he served as an elder and trustee. He had taught Sunday School for many years. He was also a member of the Angus Breeders Association.
Surviving besides his wife is one brother, Alex Swickard, Indianapolis. He was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother. (Dec 24, 1984)
