Ray D. Smith
Ray D. Smith, 66, Route 2, died at the Daviess County Hospital at 2 a.m.
Sunday. He had been in failing health for seven years and seriously
ill for four days.
Smith was born October 31, 1916 in Harrison Township, the son of Andrew
J. and Elizabeth (Colvin) Smith. He married Dorothy Kidwell on April
27, 1946, and she survives.
Smith was a retired farmer and member of St. Patrick's Church, Corning.
Surviving besides the wife are three daughters, Sue Smith, Nancy Frederick,
and Mrs. Wayne (Mary Lynne) Portee, all of Washington, a son, Dan Smith,
Avon; three brothers, Vincent Smith, Washington, Fidelis "Dell" Smith,
Belleville, Illinois and Joseph Smith, Vincennes; and four grandchildren.
One sister and two brothers have preceded him in death.
Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Partick's Church
with the Rev. Joseph Erbacher as celebrant. Interment will be in the
Glencoe Cemetery. Friends may call in the Ed Lee Mortuary after 2 p.m.
Monday. Members of St. Patrick's parish and friends will pray the rosary
at 7:30 p.m.
