Wilbur E. Shelton

Wilbur E. Shelton, 84, 1112 Donaldson Road, died at 5:50 a.m. Sunday at Daviess Community Hospital. The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Gill Chapel, with the Rev. Lucia Jones officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Reeve Township. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. until time of service Wednesday. American Legion and Veterans of Foreign War will present a flag at the graveside. Born May 10, 1917, in Reeve Township, he was the son of Louis B. and Lettie (Potts) Shelton. An Army veteran, he served in the South Pacific Theater during World War II. He attended Washington High School and was a blacksmith for the B & O Railroad for 10 years, worked at the Jay C Food Stores for 19 years and at Siler Oil Co for 20 years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Eagles Lodge, Washington Saddle Club, Washington Boat Club, Indian Rock Camping Club and Cherokee Sam's Camping Club. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy V. Shelton. Two sisters, Pearl Evans and Virginia Tomey Batchelor, and two brothers, Herman and Richard Shelton, are deceased. (Death date- July 29, 2001)
