LOUIS SHELTON DIES SUNDAY
Louis B. SHELTON, 81, 217 SE 11th Street, died at 3 a.m. Sunday at the
Daviess County Hospital after a long illness. He had retired 16 years
ago after working for the NEw York Central Railroad. He was born in
Dubois County July 26, 1889, son of Andrew and Malinda (ROBLING) SHELTON
and attended school in Reeve township. In 1915 he married Lettie Letha
POTTS, who died in 1959. He married Josephine GILLICK November 9, 1963,
and she survives him. He leaves one son, Wilbur E. SHELTON, and one
daughter, Mrs. William (Virginia) TOMEY, both of this city; two stepdaughters,
Mrs. Carl (Hazel) COLLINS, Montgomery, and Mrs. William (Wilma) KIRSCH,
Glendale; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and five stepgrandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Flora TAYLOR and Mrs. Edmond SHELTON,
both of Washington. Three brothers and three sisters preceded him in
death. Three children died in infancy, and a daughter, Mrs. Pearl EVANS,
and two sons, Richard and Herman, also preceded him in death. The funeral
will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Gill Funeral Home, with the Rev.
R.P. Hawkins officiating and burial in Oak Grove cemetery in Reeve
township. Friends may call at the funeral home.
