Clarence Shelton
Clarence Shelton, 72, 103 NW 12th Street, died at the St. Mary's Hospital, Evansville, Saturday at 9:20 p.m. He had been in failing health for the last two and a half weeks.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Ed Lee Mortuary. The Rev. John Cissell will officiate. Interment will be at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Reeve Township.
Friends may call at the Ed Lee Mortuary from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday.
He was born on Sept. 12, 1926, to Earl and Hazel (Robins) Shelton in Woodburry County, Iowa. They preceded him in death. He married Patty Cissell on May 11, 1956 and she survives.
Shelton was a retired truck driver with Jefferson Trucking and was the last member of Cornettsville Church. He served in the US Navy in World War II and served in the US Army in the Korean Conflict. He came to Daviess County as a young boy. He was educated in Alfordsville schools.
Surviving are his children, Steve and Brayton Shelton and Angie Gregory, all of Washington; Marsha Faith, Odon and Mark Shelton, Culpepper, Va.; 14 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; three sisters, Mildred Cox, Washington; and Mrs. Frances Yokem and Phyllis Williams, both of Alfordsville and two brothers, Wayne and the Rev. Raymond Shelton, Washington.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhenoda Shelton.
