Robert S. Osmon

Robert S. Osmon, 84, died at 7 p.m. Monday at Glendale Fish and Wildlife
Preserve.
Born Nov. 23, 1924, in Washington, he was the son of Roy and
Hazel Elizabeth (Smith) Osmon. A Washington High School graduate, he
was a veteran of the Army Air Corp serving in World War II as a mechanic.
After service, he began his career with Standard Oil, owned and operated
O&A Construction and Maintenance Company until July 1975 and retired
from the Daviess County Highway Department as road foreman in 1988. He
was a member of First Baptist Church in Washington and Charity Lodge
No. 30 F.A.M. He was a devoted husband and took great pride in his children,
grandchildren and his great granddaughter. He was an avid outdoorsman
and shared his love of fishing with treasured friends. Surviving is his
wife, Betty Jean (Heilig) Osmon, whom he married April 7, 1945; a son,
Robert L. Osmon of Washington; a daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Ron
Arnold of Washington; a brother, Richard Lee (Versal) Osmon of Evansville;
three sisters, Imogene Keith of Plainville, Margaret Lucas of Evansville
and Janice Carol Meuth of Indianapolis; five grandchildren, Scott Osmon
of Evansville, Brad Osmon of Washington, Jennifer (Tony) Johnson of Bloomington,
Lori (Trent) Vanderstelt of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Bridget Arnold of Indianapolis;
one great-granddaughter, Madalynn Johnson of Bloomington; and many nieces
and nephews. His parents and one sister, Marjorie Sue Allen, are deceased.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ed Lee Mortuary, with
Rev. Bill Malott officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, with
military graveside rites conducted by the Washington American Legion
and VFW. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Ed Lee Mortuary
with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to
