James R. Nolley, 86 died at his residence this morning at 2:15. Arrangements
are pending at the Ed Lee Mortuary

MONTGOMERY
James Franklin Nolley, 86, died at his residence Wednesday at 2:15 a.m.
He had been in failing health for two years and seriously ill for two
weeks.
The funeral with Fr. Joseph Erbacher officiating will be at 10 a.m. Saturday
at the St. Peter's Church. Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.
He was born on Oct. 3, 1914, in Daviess County,to Harvey Jacob and Catherine
Elizabeth (Ash) Nolley. they preceded him in death. He married Bonnie
M. Herndon on June 24, 1939 and she preceded him in death on Feb. 24,
1973. He later married Jo Ella J. Leonard on May 16, 1981 and she survives.
Nolley was a retired county highway supervisor and county surveyor as
well as a St. Peter's Church member. A lifetime area resident, he had
been educated in Barr Township schools, was past president of the Montgomery
Ruritan and a Loogootee Knights of Columbus member.
Surviving are his children, James F. Nolley, Centerville; Cheryl Morgan,
Jasper and Rebecca Simmerman, Loogootee; five stepchildren, Sandra Williams,
Michael and Larry Devine, all of Washington; Debra Mullen, Bunker Hill
and David Devine, Darmstadt, Germany; 20 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren;
a brother, Gibert, Washington and two sisters, Cleophus Queen, Wabash
and Kathleen Livingston, Orlando.
He was also preceded in death by five brothers; Arlan, Donald, Richard,
Joseph and Kenneth Nolley.
