Miss Elizabeth Montgomery is Taken By Death
Third Death in Family in Last Ten Weeks at Montgomery
The third death in the past ten weeks in the well known Montgomery family of Montgomery came Saturday night at 9 o'clock to Miss Elizabeth Montgomery, 68, after an illness of three years of paralysis. On February 7, John D. Montgomery, 73, died at his home in Montgomery, and eight days later death came to Miss Sadie Montgomery, 66, at the local hospital, after an operation. Death of Miss Elizabeth was not unexpected, as she has been seriously ill for two months or more. She had been bedfast for two years or more. Born on April 20, 1863, she was a daughter of Valentine and Harriett (Wathen) Montgomery and had spent all her life in the vicinity of Montgomery. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic church and was educated in the Montgomery schools. Surviving is one brother, James Montgomery, of Los Angeles. Three brothers preceded her in death. Mrs. John Montgomery is a sister-in-law, Mrs. Jesse Alberty of Washington is a niece and Cletus Montgomery of Indianapolis is a nephew. There are other more distant relatives surviving. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Peter's church with burial following in the parish cemetery nearby. In addition to being educated in the Montgomery schools, the deceased attended St. Mary of the Woods College near Terre Haute. She was a member of a pioneer family and it was after her family that the town of Montgomery was named.
