Sarah Gammon Gibbs Kirk

AGED RESIDENT DIED THURSDAY AT HOME HERE
Mrs. Sarah Gammon Gibbs Kirk, aged 77 years, widow of Clark Kirk, died
at 5:25 o'clock Thursday afternoon at her home, 1004 Downey Avenue.
Mrs. Kirk had been in ill health for more than a year and had been
in a serious condition the past two weeks. Complications brought about
her death. Born in Tipton, Iowa, October 1, 1851, the deceased had
been a resident there for several years and was well known in this
city. She was a daughter of Jackson and Evaline Quackenbush Gammon.
She was a member of the United Brethren Church. The deceased first
married George E. Gibbs and to this union seven children were born,
three of whom preceded the mother in death. Mr. Gibbs died in 1903.
In 1912 she married Mr Kirk, who also preceded her in death. The surviving
children are John Wm. Gibbs of Indianapolis, Benjamin Gibbs of Washington,
Rose Clark of Washington and Lula Denson of Washington. Everett and
Henry Gammon of Shoals are surviving brothers. There are three stepchildren,
Mrs. J.M. Smith of Hudsonville, Mrs. Charles Akers of Washington and
Mrs. Etna Purcell of Edwardsport. There are also 16 grandchildren and
thirteen great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
Elwood Williams will have charge.
