Alva M. Jones

ALVA M. JONES, VEALE FARMER PASSES AWAY
        HAD BEEN A MEMBER OF COUNTY COUNCIL FOR LAST FOUR YEARS
        Alva M. Jones, Veale township farmer and a member of county council for
        the last four years, died at 5:35 o'clock this morning at the Daviess
        county hospital. He was 56 years old.
        Mr. Jones had been ill during the last summer and he had been seriously
        ill for the last three weeks. He submitted to an operation for appendicitis
        operation five days ago.
        Born February 27, 1886, in Daviess county, Mr. Jones was the son of Milton
        C. and Susan (McCafferty) Jones. He was educated here and was a life-long
        resident of Daviess county.
        Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Essie (Fitzgerald) Jones , whom he married
        Nov. 18, 1908, and three children: Mrs. Donna McCain of Veale township,
        Clinton Jines [sic] of Veale township, and Mrs. Evelyn Kays of this city.
        He also leaves four grandchildren, two sisters and a brother, Mrs. Gertrude
        Carnahan and Mrs. Susan Garland, and Charles E. Jones, all of this city.
        One brother, Orville, is dead.
        Mr. Jones served on the county council from 1938 completing his term
        this year.
        He was a member of Aikman's Creek church.
        The body is being removed to the family residence where friends may call.
        Services will held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Aikman's Creek church with
        the Rev. Ray Bartle of Jeffersonville in charge and burial in Aikman
        Creek cemetery.
