Chester Hudson

Chester Hudson, 66, Route 2, Bixler Road, died at 11:50 a.m. Monday at Good Samaritan Hospital after a one week illness. Mr. Hudson was a retired machinist for the B & O Railroad and was a member of the First Baptist Church. A native of Pike County, he was born July 10, 1912 to Joseph and Rachel (Helton) Hudson and attended Pike County Schools. On December 17, 1930, he married Grace Ford and she survives. He leaves two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Marjorie) Smith, Bloomington, and Mrs. Lee (Rita) Jewell, Newark, Ohio; four sons, Gerald L. Hudson and David E. Hudson, Washington, Donald R. Hudson, Vincennes, and Emmett G. Hudson, Memphis, Tennessee. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Lillian Cole, Mrs. Merle Hudson and Mrs. Mabel Hart, all of Washington. He was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Newman as minister. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gill Chapel after 2 p.m. Wednesday. The casket will be taken to the church at 9 a.m. Thursday.
