Hazel Marie
Hoffman, 92, formerly of Daviess County, died at 1:50 a.m. Monday at
the Loogootee Nursing Center. Born Nov. 4, 1915, in Reeve Township in
Daviess County, she was the daughter of Clarence Potts and Dona (Webber)
Potts. A homemaker, she retired in 1980 from Kimball Electronics in Jasper.
She attended Reeve Township School and was a member of Alfordsville United
Methodist Church. She enjoyed baking, especially baking pies. Survivors
include one daughter, Shirley L. Farley of Jasper; one sister, Ruth Waldran
of Terre Haute; one brother, Fred Bauer of Indianapolis; one granddaughter,
Nancy Farley of Jasper; and four great-grandchildren Kevin and wife Jamie
Farley and Melissa Farley, all of Evansville, Chad Farley of Jasper and
Matthew of Huntingburg. Her husband, Elmer L. Hoffman, whom she married
Dec. 30, 1933, in Lawrenceville, Ill., died March 13, 1968. A son, Randell
Hoffman died in 1957, and a grandson, Terry Farley died Nov. 28, 2006.
Her parents, Clarence and Dona Potts, three sisters, Geveive Smiley,
Wanda Hostettler and Wilma Myers, and two brothers, Randell and Arnol
Hoffman, are also deceased. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at
the Alfordsville United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Old Union
Cemetery, south of Alfordsville. Friends may call from 8:30 a.m. until
time of service Thursday. Arrangements are being made through Brocksmith
Funeral Home, Loogootee. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may
be made to the Alfordsville United Methodist Church.
